No Me Llores Mas - Marc Ribot y Los Cubanos Postizos
(just doing the more sedate ones from the album right now. too early for the more upbeat stuff)
Half Right (again)
I understand that Jayson, though I still haven't gone to bed yet. Its also a time for the mellow.
I'm amazed at the range of stuff on that album, Jayson.
I really enjoyed listening to it at work the other day.

I thought you might. I've used it for some as an intro to Marc Ribot. You get many glimpses of his tone and skill sets but in an easy to process package of songs that cover familiar styles. With the exception of the song "Postizos" all of the material on that album are the compositions of Cuban composer Arsenio Rodriguez.

Marc's approach to standards is always interesting.

done.
jeff doesn't like this song at all.
not Bowie's best by any stretch, but certainly a good song. It has an early rock and roll feel to it with some very obvious nods to Little Richard.

From about the 22 second point, Marc finds some cool tone and the solo that follows gets me every time. The last couple of minutes of it remind me of the way Pete Cosey played with Miles.
the cramps---garbageman
very nice. love the cramps. more of that same guitar tone we were talking about yesterday but taken in a different direction.
we had tickets to see them at the roxy in LA in 1998, but drove to vegas to get married and see phish instead.
