It's the only Monk/Coltrane I have..... I love it.
Listening to Cash at Folsom right now, too.

Well if you are looking for more of that pairing, I would highly recommend Thelonious Monk Quartet with John Coltrane at Carnegie Hall which Blue Note released a few years ago. It's a live concert from 1957. That Monk Quartet is legendary and this album shows why.

You crack me up... I was just about to PM you for a suggestion for a recording ( rather than say, a whole collection ).
You rock !

I can't help myself. That live album was almost never to be as nobody seemed to realize the concert had been recorded. I'm glad it came to Blue Note's attention because I had been looking for a good live recording of that quartet for a very long time. I have plenty of Trane with Miles (both before and after the stuff with Monk) and almost all of Trane's post-Miles stuff, but something live from Trane & Monk was a gift from the vaults. If you like the studio album you have, you should really enjoy the live one.
Looking forward to it ... just added it to my Amazon cart.
Thanks again.

I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. - Edgar Allan Poe
