I plan on attending the Umaine event! If I get tickets of course Hopefully those darned college kids don't take 'em all first!
Any word about signed copies at the event?
Ms. Mod posted that there will be pre signed copies but they haven't figured out distribution yet(thank you becca for pointing this out to me!)
I wonder what they'll do? What have they done in the past with this type of situation? I've been to a signing but not a speaking engagement other than a Umaine dinner. This will be a first for me.....
Likely random distribution among copies for sale. Speculation only.
The venue seats ~ 1,435. Tickets are supposed to be free, and I would think that the majority will be obtained by "Members of the University of Maine community....with a MaineCard"
Books won't be free, so I stick with the random distribution among purchased copies. I have my own thoughts on how that will be conducted, but no need to share publicly as good info too far in advance only makes the book Nazi's more zealous.
The books look a bit dingy if the order page is any indication. I can't see making the torturous trip to Maine for this one.
They are taking orders for the King event 11/7
Why does there seem to be no interest in this event?
Really? Still tickets available?

All good points (except I live here in Maine, November is waaayyyy better than February, and it is still a King book, cheap or not) but my main reason is it is the first chance I have had to see him since the first and only other time 36 years ago. Match that with the fact that neither he or I are likely to make it another 36 years and how could I pass it up?
EDIT: in other words, this time it is not about the book but about the man.
"Thanks, but no, it isn't a cowboy hat. It's a fedora. And yes, Indianna Jones is still socially relevant."
I know this is a longshot but if anyone scores more than 1 signed copy I'd be interested in buying one.

Around one month ago, Matt (Lot Guy) posted on this thread an offer to give away a signed copy of End of Watch. I happened to be the lucky recipient and today, when I got home from work, it had arrived.
I want to sincerely thank Matt for this extremely generous opportunity, to say that it's very kind of you is an understatement and I'm humbled. I also want to broadly thank this place - TDT. I was buying from Betts for a good while before joining here and it was David who recommended I join. I've now been a member for only a year and have found this place a mind-blowing source of King knowledge, of generous advice and support (ahem...enablers!), and a place where I've met great people. So, again, thanks Matt and TDT... You bloody rock!
Matt is one of the good guys, thats for sure! Congrats!
"A real limited edition, far from being an expensive autograph stapled to a novel, is a treasure. And like all treasures do, it transforms the responsible owner into a caretaker, and being a caretaker of something as fragile and easily destroyed as ideas and images is not a bad thing but a good one...and so is the re-evaluation of what books are and what they do that necessarily follows." - Stephen King
Matt has helped many of us out. He really is a good chap and a VALUE here. He knows the "right" people ya know? hehe
