I really, really, really want to read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
I really, really, really want to read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
The Client by John Grisham
"Far better it is to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checkered by failure, than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in the gray twilight that knows not victory or defeat" -Theodore Roosevelt
Bought it at a secondhand store, like new, last week for a quarter. I have yet to start it. The truth is I only recognized it because I had read someone on here talk about it, so I got it.
Also got The Road and All The Pretty Horses, firsts and like new hardcovers for 50 cents a piece. God I love my local secondhand stores, they're obviously not run by readers.
about 2 years ago I found a hardcover mint first edition The Dark Half for 50 cents too, the only problem with it was it had a dedication inside the cover. But I don't care, it's MINE!
"So many vows. They make you swear and swear. Defend the King, obey the King, obey your father, protect the innocent, defend the weak. But what if your father despises the King? What if the King massacres the innocent? It's too much. No matter what you do, you're forsaking one vow or another."

"You've had your whole F***ing life to think things over, what good's a few minutes minutes more gonna do you now?"
Yes I really enjoyed it, I don't think I would have wanted to have lived it though! But I like to be away from reality. Some of the scenes I found a little hard to put my imagination to

A NEW GAME BEGINS
Rereading They Thirst by Robert R McCammon. First read it when I was 15 so I can't remember anything about it apart from the fact that it was a vampire novel
I gave a young friend a copy of Different Seasons - he liked the Shawshank movie and fancied trying it after I'd raved about King and The Dark Tower. Needless to say, he's been completely blown away by the novella, and by Apt Pupil. He's just started on The Body.
Anyway, he's big on Harry Potter and has given me the first 4 books as a box set... I'm finally on my way
I've tried reading them before... first time got as far as Hagrid's arrival at the hut on the island... second time got as far as the wand shop on Diagon Alley.
At least I've got as far as the sorting hat at Hogwarts this time. Not finding it nearly so much of a chore as before. And I'm assured the tale just gets better and better as it unfolds...
