Pullman - His Dark Materials I. Good stuff.
Andrew Pyper - The Damned. It's pretty good. This is the guy who was the moderator at the King event in Toronto.
Joe R. Lansdale - Black Hat Jack. I've never been a fan of westerns. This is a good story but I wouldn't be reading it if it weren't written by Lansdale. #harshtruth
It has to be better than The Deep, I have not been that disappointed in a book in a long time, the last 200 pages were a struggle to get through. Way too many dream sequences, flashbacks and journal entries. It was a chore. I haven't read The Troop yet but I imagine I should have started with that one

Weaveworld is one of the most interesting Barker tales out there
I liked it a lot! If you've never read Barker I imagine it is as good a place as any to start. He's expert at creating other worlds and dimensions and a master of the weird and strange. I've pretty much loved everything I've read by him except Mister B. Gone. I still need to read Imajica, The Abarat series, Everville and Galilee
Thanks for your thoughts! I originally heard about Clive Barker after finishing the Dennis L. McKiernan books about Mithgar; I was looking for another world to get lost in. I have never actually read anything by him though, and I don't know why/how that happened. One of my goals for 2015 now is to read Weaveworld

Reading Hunters Run by George R. R. Martin, Gardner Dozois, and Daniel Abraham. I'm not really feeling it so far however I'm trying to get through it. After reading Bird Box (which was excellent) this one is a bit of a struggle.
i've got two copies of Weaveworld, one with the Cabal novella
Started Run by Blake Crouch. Really fast paced, loving it so far.
About 2/3 way through The Long Walk. So far, this may be my second favorite Bachman book, followed by Thinner.
I'm not a big Bachman fan, but my favorite was The Running Man.
A NEW GAME BEGINS
Love the Long Walk, one of my absolute favorites. What's your favorite killjoy?
Of the Bachman books? Probably Thinner, then The Long Walk, followed by Running Man. Roadwork comes in last (I liked it, but somebody had to come in 4th). I haven't read Rage, Blaze, or The Regulators yet (but of course already own them).
The Regulators is awful.
Sloth Love Chunk
I can't wait to get to that one then , lol.
Don't let the Haters grind you down!
I like The Regulators.

Ugh, The Regulators. I wanted to like it so bad since Desperation is one of my top King books, but it just let me down.
I think that might be the problem people have with it. To me you can't really compare the two. While similar in ways (theme and characters and such) they're very different books to me, and have a completely different style. I read The Regulators long before I read Desperation, so maybe that's why I enjoy it so much? If I had read it right after Desperation then I could see being a bit let down if you're expecting something similar.
