"It's his eyes, Roland thought. They were wide and terrible, the eyes of a dragon in human form" - Roland seeing the Crimson King for the first time.
"When the King comes and the Tower falls, sai, all such pretty things as yours will be broken. Then there will be darkness and nothing but the howl of Discordia and the cries of the can toi" - From Song of Susannah
After I finish my Quantum Mechanics : For Everyone! book, I plan to pick up A Seperate Reality (thanks Tamez).
The exclaimation point in that title cracks me up. I'm sure it's just that exciting!
I had a textbook last semester called "Post-Modernism...Made Cool!"....it was not cool.....at all.
I am Daenerys Stormborn and I will take what is mine. With fire and blood.
I think I'm gonna pick up American Gods for a re-read.
I think we ought to read only the kind of books that wound and stab us. If the book we are reading doesn't wake us up with a blow on the head, what are we reading it for? - Franz Kafka
The Eagles Brood, from the Camulod Chronicles. An Excellent series by Jack Whyte. Also, The Great Hunt, second book in The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan.
i can't get into a game of thrones. looks like i should only listen to maerlyn when it comes to book recs.
That's a very good series, but I suppose it doesn't call to everyone. I wish George would hurry up and finish A Dance with Dragons... he's had about four years for it, and he had half already when he started.
everyone keeps telling me how excellent it is, but...i'm just not feeling it for some reason. it reminds me of this other series...hang on...i have to go find out what it was.
:eta: the coldfire series by c.s. friedman. that's what it's reminding me of. i didn't care for those at first, but pushed on and eventually got into them.
I'm sure it would have been the same for me, but I cheated and started on A Storm of Swords by accident.
Duty is heavier than a mountain, death lighter than a feather. - al'Lan Mandragoran, Eye of the World

out of desperation last night
i looked at my shelves
(there are butt loads of books in there
i was supposed to read in college and never got around to them)
and decided on
The Haunted Monastery and The Chinese Maze Murders
it's pretty good so far
