Got one "could not connect" issue just now, but that may have been some random connection glitch on my end. Refreshed and it was all good.

I had the same 'glitch'.
For now, the site loads slightly slower with IE8 than before (tested on two machines) - but the delay is entirely insignificant.
In FF everything is fine, as it was before.
