But I would vote for Ed Wood before I would Kubrick. I know he has contributed to the film making world, but his films are torturous to me.

I voted for Kubrick too. Lynch's work is disturbingly unique, but Kubrick has crafted indelible masterpieces of cinema. 2001, A Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Dr. Strangelove - such a powerful and varied body of work.
I liked Dr.Strangelove, especially Peter Sellers, especially as Captain Mandrake

Upon further investigation, I have seen Twin Peaks, and would have voted for anything else based upon my opinion of that.
