The other day I asked my wife if she would be interested in doing a small shooting of my collection so she had a bit of fun :

I think that it's fixed, that all the pictures are all turned the way they should be, is that so?
(I still do not understand how that forum turns some pictures automatically without any reason...)

I knew it was French, really I did. I flunked it in high school, so I know what it looks like.

Man, great collection, I need to spend some proper time looking at some of the detail. But, when I saw those candles my anxiety turned up a notch! Put those bloody things away from all that paper!

Yeah, I wasnt there when she took the pictures.

It looks nice though, but to be honnest, my collection isnt properly insured as apparently a book collection cannot be part of the value from which my flat is insured. I need an extra insurance for it, which seems complicated to find / register too....

At the top of my shelves, I already had 3 sets of the french mass paperback editions of THE STAND, creating the illustration that can be seen below






Well, I decided to do the same with the sets of the french IT and THE TOMMYKNOCKERS who now sits at the top of my collection

Posted on early october in the new P&J thread :

I've recently and accidentally came accross the following book (on the left).

This is a second french edition of FRANKENSTEIN.
The first edition contains 3 volumes is extremely rare. I recently found out that a copy sold for 15K€ about a year or so ago, so extremely unlikely.

What is cool about that new copy is that :
- well it's in much better shape than the copy that I already (have on the right), and I mean really more,
- this is a rare numbered version, and only 15 were printed on special paper! Who knows how many survived from 1922?

Very nice copy, but I am not sure yet. I may try to sell it.

I guess that the tape and marks are not fixable? Would anybody here have any tips or advice?

My advice is don't pick daises with Frankenstein's monster.

Leave the tape alone. It's unlikely you could find matching paper to replace the FFE. Unless of course, the FFE have already been changed.

Front free endpaper.

I think it would be impossible to remove the glue stains as they seem very old. Replacing the the FFE is an option but I think it would be better to keep the original.

Thanks for the reply, and yes I agree that I wouldnt want to replace that paper. Oh well, c'est la vie.
