My choice for Roland would be Timothy Olyphant.
My choice for Roland would be Timothy Olyphant.
In order of conception:
Jake: Elijah Wood
Oy: CGI'd with a flat toothed smile and voiced by Snoop Dog
Roland: Hugh Grant
Susannah:Star Jones
Eddie: Sean William Scott(Stifler)
Callahan: Walter Mathau(dead or alive)
Walter O' Dim: Seth Rogen(Jewfro and all!)
Sheemie:Matt Damon
Susan: Kate Hudson*shudder*
Young Roland: Michael Cera
Whiskeybent, if you are going to cast Young Roland with Michael Cera, might I suggest this companion for him:
Cuthbert: Jon Hedder (Napolean Dynamite)
Cuthbert: My old girlfriend from the inner baronies was gonna ride out for the dance at Sea Front, but she couldn't cause she's doing some petticoat modeling right now.
While I'm at it, why not have the 'Rex Kwon Do' guy from the same movie as Cort?

Yep... It will be pretty cool, actually! And I loved the "Three Kings" too, just as I loved the Star Wars parody by Family Guy "Blue Harvest"!

Sam Elliot is Jonas!!! There is no question about it! Look at this picture and tell me its not what you saw when reading W & G!!

Yeah, I have had Jonas pegged as Sam Elliott since I first read W and G many years ago.
Sloth Love Chunk
100% Jonas... good catch!

Just a quick thought on music if there was a movie.
This song has to be Roland's song!! I listened to it the other day after reading some of TDT and it instantly made me think of Roland!!
The song is "When the man comes around" by Johnny Cash. The lyrics are so apt!!!
and maybe this song for the end or very near the end.....
"Hurt" by Johnny Cash, these lyrics are even more apt than the ones above!!
Tried to attach links but for some reason I couldn't, you can listen to them both on YouTube if you don't know them.
I don't like the idea of Sam Elliot as Jonas (previously suggested). He gives off a nice-guy vibe which doesn't work. He's actually who I had pegged for the part of John Cullum.
The guy I pictured as Jonas was a fellow named Nick Chinlund from the horrible "The Legend of Zorro". Take a look at the pictures below.

I like John Cullum for John Cullum.
It'll take a lot more than words and guns,
A whole lot more than riches and muscle.
The hands of the many must join as one.
And together we'll cross the river.

Okay nobody cuss, but would Brad Pitt make a terrible Roland?
Think about it. He can act brilliantly when he wants to, he's the right height, has blue eyes and is the right age too. Also, I think he can carry off the warrior/diplomat persona believably too.
Anyone remember that scene from 'Meet Joe Black' where in the hospital, he's speaking in an island tongue with the old lady about to die? That so reminds me of when Roland speaks with Aunt Talitha of River Crossing.
Roughen him up a little (ala Babel) and you've got yourself, at the very least, a decent back-up Roland.
He's WAY too good looking to be Roland, though that picture is very good. Maybe he'd be more suited for Eddie? Here's my choices, though:
Roland:Josh Brolin
Eddie: Brad Pitt
Susannah: Zoe Saldana
Jake: Nat Wolff
Pere Callahan: Christopher Lloyd
Flagg: Gary Oldman
Susan: Elisha Cuthbert
Cuthbert: Josh Peck
Jonas: Anthony Hopkins
Depape: Ryan Reynolds
Reynolds: Javier Bardem
mmm Brad Pitt as Roland. I wouldn't mind that. I think Pitt is a good enough actor to pull it off as well.
A true firewasp ninja would never wear such a ridiculous sweater.
There's logic in nonsense.
