In hindsight I think, ironically, that this has one of the best endings of the series.
It is a non-ending, in a way, but aren't they all? I can see now that at least this one was pretty cool. (It is, like the book itself, far out.)

    AAA. GREAT story.

As much as I love this volume...I'm gonna have to give it an AAB. It's got an awesome story, which finally gives us so much information about why Roland is seeking the Tower, has the return of a much loved character, introduces another much loved character, is just about epic journey wise, in fact I'm pretty much full of praise for it...but, that cliffhanger ending? It is cool, but it just feels too...sudden for me. Other volumes have ended better I feel, but even on its own merits, well, it's not an ending at all really, is it? Some things were resolved nicely at least, which is why it gets a B.

My favorite of the series. I gave DT II all A's, so take a guess what this one got.

BAA. Plot is still a little muddy, still not sure King knows where he is going with this thing at this point. Character development is excellent. And while I hated the ending of this book, (because I had to wait many years to find out how it turned out) it was a very effective cliffhanger ending, and probably the most powerful ending of any of the books in the series in hindsight.

BAA--I felt like it dragged a bit at points throughout. But great read, and I woulda given it higher than an A in character development if I could--for me, that was the real strength of this book.

Especially w/ Jake, yes? In The Gunslinger (original) he was barely a character at all, but here he really came to life. Yar; this is, in fact, still my favorite SK of all.

    Really?
I thought so too, to be honest. But overall the action was more or less non-stop. It's my third favorite DT novel.
