    This shit is really happening!
Even if it strays from the books, it looks badass, no doubt.

Do you think some folks who have watched LOTR (but are not familiar with this) will be slightly confused with the trailer? There are references to a Tower and folks running around with swords and covered in robes/rags. Struck me a a bit like Mordor and the Orcs.

The trailer...it does nothing for me. I envy the people who have never read the books. Walking out of the theaters after watching an incomprehensible mess is much easier to take if you don't have the added disappointment of "what could have been."

I somewhat agree. This movie looks fun but I didn't feel excited. If I didn't know the background of the story this movie would probably be a wait until DVD for me. As I've aged there are less and less trailers that really thrill/intrigue me however there are some. This wasn't one of them.

To be clear I am not hating. Just sharing my honest opinion. I will go see this when it's released and I hope it blows my socks off.

Hopefully, what feels like chaos to those of us who recognize the multiple things being tossed about in that trailer will make non-DT folks think "wow - I need to see more." It definitely communicates a big good/evil plot, much action, and the presence of a rich story behind it all - this really should whet at least a few appetites out there (I hope).

To me it looks like McConaughey is giving MiB way too much personality (this was my fear as soon as I heard he was cast), but this should help the movie attract the general audience.

I see the comparison, but the presence of New York and handguns should break any LOTR spell.

I don't think that will be an issue, there's way too much modern stuff going on.

The generic orc things do worry me a bit. Would it have killed them to at least include yellow coats or animal heads?

Definitely looks like they are targeting the Young Adult reader, Hunger Games/Divergent/Maze Runner type crowd with this trailer. I'm reserving judgement until I can see the whole thing, but this trailer definitely didn't give me good vibes as a fan of the books. The characters just don't...click.

I just took that as Jake's way of referring to it, but not meaning that Roland is from another galaxy etc. Of course, they've changed a lot and may have changed that as well.

I told my contacts are Sony Pictures (FR) that the subtitles for the trailer were not good.
Mostly two reasons : the use of the french version of "knights" when it's about "gunslingers", and the bad translations for the "I do not aim with".... / "I do not kill with".

    Just minor issues then :p

Loved the trailer. Probably the only part that irked me was the clumsy, verbose exposition.

I love that the trailer heavily focused on Roland's almost supernatural abilities with his guns. The multiple reloading tricks, his 'sixth sense', his accuracy. It was beautiful.

Agreeing with Cyber, wish the Low Men would have had yellow coats. Apart from it distinguishing them from Generic Bad Guy, it would have been jarring to see contemporary clothing against a post apocalyptic western wasteland, further solidifying this story as a collision course of so many different genres.

Can't believe this is really happening.

I think the orcs are actually slow mutants. Just a guess but in the scene they were in what appears to be a shanty town.

What if the movie surprises us and we get Rolands fight with Cort? Steven Dechain was briefly in the trailer.
