Midsommer. 1/6. Loved the first half but became very predictable and even sillier. I know many here liked it and it was part of the reason I watched it. Was one of the worst “horror” movies I have seen.

Wish List:
Any of the following flatsigned or inscribed-
It, Shining, Salem’s Lot, Mr. Mercedes, The Stand
Brother ARC, Seed ARC
Rambo: Last Blood
At 89 minutes, it's short and sweet (including a closing recap of the previous Rambo movies-including the one you just viewed). Everything a person wants and expects in a Rambo movie. The climax combines Rambo's skills with a bit of "Home Alone" as the bad guys pursue Rambo in booby trapped underground tunnels.
3.5/6 beers on the RFSRS.

Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Shazam have all been great.
You oversold by calling Aquaman great. It's clearly passable at best by all accounts. Shazam and Wonder Woman have been received far better. They still don't interest me at all though.

MALEFICENT MISTRESS OF EVIL in EMAX - 8 out of 10, but I'm in love with Angelina Jolie (without her tattoos), so that explains it.
I'm sure if there is intelligent life somewhere out there in the universe, they are wise enough to stay away from us.

Zombieland: Double Tap-
A sequel that feels more like an homage to the original. Less (but still plenty) of violence than the original, but plenty of good laughs. Woddy Harrelson nails his character and plays it straight-avoiding winking at the camera. The group settles in the White House and there are quite a few funny scenes, including one that might make a book collector cringe. For his birthday, Emma Stone gives Jesse Eisenberg a true 1st edition Lord of the Rings Tolkien book that she has inscribed in the FFE's to him. Later in the movie, a hilarious scene arrives where Harrelson and Eisenberg meet there doppelgangers.
Good fun. 4/6 beers on the RFSRS.
We don't agree on much, but we are certainly on the same page on this one.
I enjoyed Zombieland 2 as well. I loved the first one and while the second one doesn't come close to being as good as the first, it's still very enjoyable. If you like the first film, there's no reason why you won't like the second one.

Gisaengchung (Parasite):
One of the best movies I've seen this year. This Korean movie (English subtitles) is brilliant. A dirt poor family has good fortune when the son is recommended by a friend of his (who is traveling abroad) to be the english tutor to a daughter in a very wealthy family
The striking difference in living conditions is mind blowing. The movie becomes a black comedy in the second reel as the tutor son begins to insinuate his family as experienced employees (not family members) into the rich household. One an art/child psychology major to help the seemingly out of control (Attention deficit disorder) boy. She reels the boy (and the mother) in in one fell swoop.
Soon the entire family has a job with the rich family-how this plays out is hands down hilarious, yet tense.
I can't discuss the third reel, even with spoiler tags. It simply needs to be seen.

Parasite (2019)
Snuck off to the cinema today to watch this. I liked it quite a bit. Did not love it; but it is certainly well-made, thought-provoking, and entertaining. Quite a bit of humor and almost sit-commy episodes in the first 2/3rds. I also enjoyed the last third, although I must say given the set-up in the first parts, it was not all that surprising or shocking what happened. Bong delivered what he set up, and did it well.
3.5 stars
Parasite
A darkly funny, scathing commentary on the psychological ramifications of money and class divide. This is a rare film that tries to be lots of things, and it (mostly) pulls it off without a hitch. Seamless transitions in framing and tone, the film constantly keeps you on your toes as events within the film escalate. Go in knowing as little as you can and you'll be pleasantly surprised.
