I have a $75000 theater in my home and the first one remastered in 3D on loud just didn't do it as much as the new one for me... I really enjoyed it more than the first. Loved the set up and yes there were silly parts but over all I loved the experience. IMAX is the way to go!!!!

The sense of wonderment, for the most part--the same wonderment that I still feel watching Jurassic Park for the umpteenth time--just wasn't there for me.

I also would've liked (even a minute or two) explaining what happened in between JPIII and JW and how the park got up and running. I did like the nods to JP but on the other hand, it just made me want to re-watch it again.
This takes place after the first one and it acts like 2&3 didn't happen. That's what I read and likes that they did it that way...

I read them. I'm still waiting for The Lost World to be adapted to film....since I don't consider that movie an adaptation. It was like, 'yeah, that T-Rex trailer sequence was great, we'll just make the rest up as we go along'.

I haven't, but Jurassic Park's been on my to-read list for years now. I always mean to read it over the summer, but there's just so many books I want to read.

Now that I know you love JP, I'm eager to hear what you think of Jurassic World.

Me too, I was so excited for The Lost World because the book was so good, but then we got that movie....

Ricky, I highly recommend both. They're excellent.

    That doesn't make any sense.

I can understand hating 2 and 3, but not the original. Especially if you actually liked Jurassic World. 1 and 4 are very similar actually.

I prefer 3 over 2. If only for Grant's dream with the talking Raptor. It was hilarious.

The problem is the first JP was just so damn iconic. The sequels just felt like... sequels. Didn't Crichton write Lost World so they could make a JP2? I read them both before the movies came out, and just recently reread them in one of those Barnes & Noble collectible editions.
Great to hear Jurassic World is doing so well. Iv'e tried to keep my expectations low, but now after all the rave reviews I'm dying to see it. I hope to see it some time this week.

I finally saw Whiplash last night and it was fantastic. Highly recommended! 5/5

WELL SAID "The problem is the first JP was just so damn iconic. The sequels just felt like... sequels.".... I totally agree. I felt like this was a sequel but the fun factor was so damm high and the effects so F)&(^&'IN good... that I fell in love. Seeing again tomorrow night In IMAX 3D! this movie will take the 3rd spot on the all time charts for top grossers... I am saying it now.

    Yup. Nailed it.

Jurassic Park was undoubtedly a passion project and teeming with creativeness. The Lost World, while admittedly not completely without merit, could not shake off the handle of being perfunctory. Like the titular dinosaurs, the entire film feels engineered for the sole purpose of generating more $.

Had they followed the book I think it would have been a worthy sequel, but what they decided to put out sure did seem like they just wanted to make money.

Precisely, Bruce. JPII has absolutely nothing to do with a conversation about JW. Crichton is dead and they already made JPII. This is a fourth and completely different JP adventure and not exactly the traditional "Reboot". Though with it's success I can see them eyeing more films. JMHO

Good point, but "Godzilla" is random. JP is a sanctioned establishment, sort of.

    Never heard of it.
    Spoiler:

Also, Jeff Goldblum alone makes JP2 better than 3. That and the trailer scene.

    I loved WHIPLASH.

Saw ENTOURAGE today. I really liked the HBO cable show, but the movie left me cold; didn't care for it at all, darn it.
I'm sure if there is intelligent life somewhere out there in the universe, they are wise enough to stay away from us.

Been doing a lot of movie re-watching the past couple of weeks. I have to rethink about one of those movies. One of those movies was Cloverfield. I know a lot of people didn't like it because of the way it was done, but found footage films are becoming more popular and some are good. The reason I am saying this is because of the "other" footage that is in the film(him and his girlfriend going to coney island) bursting in at times and the giant yet small Easter egg at the end of the film.

Another found footage film that I saw last night was pretty good and you don't see something like that all the time(time...lol) It was Project Almanac. Time travel found footage is interesting... just my two cents on the movie.

(off subject...spoiler tags are not working for me)
