Sweet!! I can't wait to see it!
Only the gentle are ever really strong.
Does anyone have any idea on how large a print-run each of the two versions had? Is the "variant" Perkins one more scarce than the "standard" Bermejo one?

John -
That's a good question, and unfortunately, I don't have an answer.
I do know that my comic guy - he said he just had to order the variant cover, that he had no restrictions on number of copies, etc. Also, he said it wasn't a case of needing to buy so many "regular" covers.

I forgot this was out so soon. I need to pick it up this week.

Does anyone know if these come shrinkwrapped like the Dark Tower ones are?
I received mine today and none of the were shrinkwrapped.
I got one of each cover, and both were shrinkwrapped ( yes, same as the GB and LRH graphic novels ).

I ordered mine from Overlook Connection and not a one was shrinkwrapped.
Why did they unwrap them?
I don't know if I'll be ordering anything else from them now or not.
I got mine from a comic shop. The owner held the variant aside for me, and it was wrapped. The "regular" cover I grabbed from the shelf, and that was wrapped as well.
I'm not sure why Overlook would have unwrapped them... was it in a slipcase? If it was, that might be why.. to fit in the slipcase.
Email Overlook and ask them.

No I just ordered the books.
What makes it so bad is I ordered 3 of each and everyone of them has been opened.
Honestly, email them. Ask them why you got them unwrapped and tell them others have gotten theirs wrapped. It can't hurt to point that out. Maybe they'll step up and offer replacements or something? Sorry. I'll post when I get the ones I ordered online from mycomicshop.com and let you know if those came wrapped or not.
ETA: And I'd start the email out by asking what their return policy is. Just to let them know you're serious.

I got mine from my comics store and both were shrink-wrapped. (Actually, I got two of each--one for me and one for another overseas member of this site--and all were shrink-wrapped.)

Variant Cover by MIKE PERKINS
Sketch Variant by LEE BERMEJO
The penultimate chapter of the second volume based on Stephen King's horror epic! The survivors of the Captain Trips plague have started to team-up. Stu Redman and Glen Bateman trade origin stories--and horror stories about their mutual nightmares--while Randall Flagg sets out to recruit his first soldier in the ultimate battle between Good and Evil: Lloyd Henreid. But will the starving madman accept the dark man's offer? And either way, will he or his soul survive?
A hound will die for you, but never lie to you. And he'll look you straight in the face.
My Collection
I purchased the variant cover from Overlook and have not received it yet.
I sent Dave a email last week and again on Monday and have not gotten a response.
I'm starting to get a little peeved.
Life is a garden...dig it!
lop - was it a signed version or anything?
It's been out for a while now.

Nope. Just the plain, unsigned, hardcover variant.
I ordered the Guide to Gilead with it, when I placed my order back in February, so I figured he was holding it until the GTG released.
I finally got the GTG last week, but no Captain Trips hardcover.
Like I stated above, I have sent two emails but have gotten no response.

That completely stinks.
No excuse not to have it in your hands already.

I'm going to try emailing again.
But if I get no response, I plan on turning it over to Paypal.
It is a lesson learned.

Let me know if you want me to try and find one for you. PM me.
( will probably cost list price though, if I can )

I was able to find the hardcover at my local comic shop. My friend is really into comics and I'm not, other than DT. When I heard about the stand I just waited till I figured it was out in Hardcover, went up with him, and found the last copy. Great experience too, the owner was actually working when I was there and he hooked me up with some free stuff. I'll definetely be back there for new issues of both DT and The Stand.
Hey movieman - Welcome to the site.
What you describe is exactly the way a good comic shop is run. You're a lucky guy to have found one.
Did you pick up the variant Mike Perkins cover or the standard one.
I like them both!

I'm pretty sure I got the standard one. It's color and has the guy walking towards you with his arms out and palms up. I think it's the same cover as issue 1 but I'm not entirely sure.
