Amen, turtlesong. I'm with you 100%. Roland's pride is his problem.

Thanks, Jean.
I reserve the right to change my mind later, but my initial answer is that he says "world be damned" At times in the series I get the impression that Roland has a strong disdain...
There has been much discussion of the fact that Roland saving the beams (and thus the Tower) was only a "means to an end for him". His goal is to climb the tower and question who/whatever might...
Also, regarding Mordred, the fact that he was already dying made him much less of a threat (despite Oy's tragic end) I don't think Roland ever thought Mordred would be the end of him. I think he was...
I think she understands that Roland will never change his mind. Mia tells Susannah that Roland's only true aim is to question the "being" at the top of the tower. I think she makes a decision that...
R _ G_ -Those are great points regarding Mordred. I have to admit that i haven't given much consideration to his impact (or the Crimson King being trapped). Let me think about it for a while...
and...
This is a great thread..I hate that I wasn't here earlier.
I've said it in a few other places, but the point for me here is that Susannah is the only only member of the tet that gets it By this I...
If you want to merge this with that thread, that's cool. I missed that thread as I was browsing, I guess.
Looks like you beat me to the punch with this topic (I hate when that happens:lol:)
I've speculated on this a few times already, but i wanted to sort of flesh out the possibility of the tower representing God in the series. I've come to believe (and stated here a few times) that the...
I don't think so..others may have a different opinion
The words "misguided lust that almost became love but couldn't be because he betrayed her" comes to mind for Roland. The time in the series when I hated Roland the most was when he decided to leave...
Thanks. I stumbled across the site a few days ago. I've got about four years worth of debating on the last book to catch up on. By the way, your points are well taken.
:lol:Um.....then now would be the time to leave this thread:beat:
I hope you were kidding:onfire:
I guess my general point is that from the first sentence of the book, Walter is Rolands ultimate adversary. Mordred has trouble controlling his bowel movements:P In reality, I would choose Walter to...
Good point. But as much as most of us love Oy, would he have been as much of a threat to walter? Mordred was weak and dying anyway. Roland actually kills him quite easily.
I've needed this debate...
This thread just goes to show how varied the opinions are on all of these books, epecially Wizard and Glass. This one is by far my favorite, because it both humanizes Roland and shows what he will...
Not in a million years. Even if he knew the truth, he would deny it.
Could you be more precise then on what you didn't like much with the ending?
Maybe you can tell me why so many people worship Walter. Alright, he's witty and he's skilled, but he's totally...
