Use glass shelves. Toughened glass can hold a grown man's weight. Or use hard wood, but the rainforests might not like it.

Check out the prices for proofs/ARCs on ebay and Abebooks. There is a huge difference in what sellers expect to get for these.

Proofs/Arcs are hard to price. No two people seem to agree on prices....

I agree. Direct sunlight is worse than humidity, but is easier to control. Close your blinds and this should stop the UVB. The glass should stop the UVA. (maybe thats the wrong way round?)
