Media Mail has always been subject to inspection, so nothing new there. This is the first I've heard of UPS or FEDEX searching packages though.
I wonder if customs has been putting more pressure on...

Thanks. I did look at them last night, but their site says they only handle packages with a declared value of up to $1,000.
USPS said they can only insure it for $650 and that's using Express.
Guaranteed delivery in 2 days. She said FedEx actually handles it most of the way.
