I picked this up at an antique store for $15. Are these rare or common? What price-range would this go for, considering it's in Good-excellent condition?
The folder is beat up, but very much...
Paul and Debbie at Wrigley-Cross are amazing people. I've been to their showroom many times and I would trust their quality.
Interesting experience with Joe. Maybe there is an unwritten rule of writers (especially a family of writers) not to sign each other's work?
In my case, as I dwell on it, it may be uncouth to ask...
This is regarding King (or other authors) dedicating a book to a family member or someone else in their life.
Would the family member or friend's autograph on the dedication page increase, lessen,...
I think it's superior. The weave of the cloth cover is consistent with Wizard & Glass. It has a high-quality feel. And I consider the artist editions of 5, 6, and 7 as the true "first edition."
Ah, maybe it was 2nd Edition DJs I remember seeing. I'd love a good First Edition one, but maybe it's not to be had.
Regarding Gunslinger, First Edition dust jackets:
1. Is there still a source (DMG) where one can order a new dust jacket?
2. What would one expect to pay, either from DMG or a third party?

Mine's a later printing (based on the dust jacket price) with white end-pages and the maroon cloth cover. It's acting as a placemarker for the day I can get a 1st/1st. Can I still be a Collector??? :P
Thanks all. I think I will keep them both (in light of my discovery) for now. I am having to downsize a bit, but signed items will take high priority. I like the red ink - I agree that the black one...
Looking through my books and I noticed I had two copies of The Dark Tower, Grant Artist Edition. I was going to set one aside to sell, but noticed the signatures were in two different ink colors....
So, I conquered the first one: the Signet 1st printing of NIGHT SHIFT, in pretty decent condition! I don't know yet if the seller wants to ship internationally, though.

Yes. I've seen it. Since it was a Viking, without a DJ, it's hard to determine a true 1st.
Karen..I don't know about appraisals....
I just saw the marquee on Donald. I missed this earlier. :(
Is the business done?:(
I'd say $3-$400. I, like you, was fortunate to find a copy on a shelf and it was marked way below market price.
I'm with you there. The AE states "First Edition" and the Grant/Scribner hybrid states "First Trade Edition."
I assume there's a difference, but yeah, which came first???? I say the AE.
I think a clarifying question would be:
Are both books (and dust jackets) identical in every way, with the exception of the "SK"?
Matt, the Carrie and Firestarter both appear to be common BCE's and don't hold much value. The SK Library edition and Collector's Editions have a slightly higher value. I've got a few copies of the...
I rarely see them (and I visit a lot of used book stores). I managed to get a NF/NF 1st printing of The Gunslinger for under $20, but that's rare! I wish I would have just bought them off the shelf...
I think, in this instance, a local binder would be best (no mailing costs). If all you need is the rear board re-attached, it should be quite inexpensive--say, under $30.
