Or American Psycho. Or The Machinist.
Yeah, it can be very by the numbers within the context of that genre at times, but it's still a very enjoyable film nonetheless. Bale's performance is what makes the film.

He was also really good in his supporting pseudo-villain role in Punch Drunk Love. Very creepy and menacing without being too over the top.
