Yeah, so far it seems like it is unabridged and normal besides the spine. Hopefully, someone can figure this one out. Thanks for the responses. I am new here.

However, that wouldn't make sense because the copy I have was published in 1988.

I thought it had something to do with the prequel King published later.

The inside of the book says it was published by Plume in 1988 and it is a Hardcover.
