I agree that they should keep the Calla part, but I think they should shorten it, for example Callahans story.
I think Bardem will be great, hope they find good actors for the rest of the tet too.

This is how I think they will/should do it:
1st movie: Books 1, 2 and 3 until the drawing of Jake.
1st TV-series: The rest of book 3, 4 without prequel and book 4,5 (wind through the keyhole).
2nd...

Seems as if Viggo is out of the question. Which makes Bardem the best choice to me.

I think that's a nice way to do it. As people has said earlier, nobody can complain if the movies doesn't follow the books by word and the ending (and other parts) can be adapted to fit TV/movies...

Maybe Bob Munden could make a good Roland, sure does know how to sling a gun :)
