I believe I made some of those same arguments over on the CD forum, Chris awhile back and the answer was in a nutshell, don't ruffle the "creative's" feathers or they'll refuse to work with you...
A question for the CD folk about signature sheets. I assume (and correct me if i am wrong) that part of any contract with an author and any artists that are associated with a project is the timely...

Mine took the same south-first, north-later trip with a five day NC layover, but arrived today in perfect condition with my "spur of the moment" requested number. Very pleased to say CD does it...
Mine is still sitting in NC, but with the weather we have been having, I'm okay with a little delay. :)
