Does anyone else feel like this tournament has been going on forever?
Knowing is kind of a mixed bag, but I remember enjoying it when I went to see it. Pretty suspenseful and really good effects/action sequences. If anything, it's one of the few movies that had the...
Yeah, there's a lot of the "classics" that I haven't seen yet. But I've been watching a lot of the other ones that I hadn't seen prior to the tournament (The Fly, The Abyss, The Terminator,...
I've seen 34 from that list. There are some I'm just not interested in seeing, so the ones left I want to watch are:
Children of Men
Predator
Back to the Future (series, at least I)
Star Wars...
These two have me baffled.
Thanks for leaving!
I've been watching as many as I can!
So, can we postpone the rest of the tournament for, say, six months? There's so many films I still want to watch.
I was thinking the same thing while I was watching it. "I don't see how this is Sci-Fi, but I love it."

Thank you to whoever nominated Pleasantville. I watched it for the first time last night and absolutely loved it. One of the most enjoyable films that I've seen in awhile.

Yes! I nominated it in the horror tournament, but completely forgot about it for this one. It's definitely Sci-Fi.
This was exactly what I was going to say. If Alien, a Sci-Fi film with...
I'd be all for waiting a week before we start (I'd even prefer it). There are some that I want to watch, too, and I think it would allow everyone to become more "informed" voters.
And that, in its most simple form, is the definition of Sci-Fi: Science Fiction.
I think you're right, Mike, which is why categorizing everything is so tricky.
As for the second part of your post, I didn't say that after I saw Gravity. Not because I didn't think it was a great...
I don't believe the film focuses on ANY political issues, which is why I didn't put that part of the definition in bold. And something that I've never heard until now: that science...
"Science fiction film is a film genre that uses science fiction: speculative, fictional science-based depictions of phenomena that are not fully accepted by mainstream science, such as...
I wouldn't consider Jacob's Ladder Sci-Fi at all (others may disagree), but Mimic definitely is.
