Yes, dark and violent is a good descriptor. The first story is brutal.

The final issue was published as a trade paperback, if memory serves.

My new pride and joy -- I arrived home from World Horror in Brighton to find a copy of American Vampire #1 in the mail, inscribed to me and signed by King in black marker on the front cover.
