Agreed - Amazon's packaging (for books) sucks! At least you can return and re-return and re-re-return as needed until you get a nice copy. My worst experience took four copies to get an undamaged book - by the third return they actually paid special attention to it, shrinkwrapped it to a board, and added puff packs. Also, while they've definitely slacked off more on packaging, they've made returns super easy. Now I can just bring the item into a UPS location and have them scan my phone - I don't even need to pack it up first.
My copy of
The Institute was in the same padded envelope, but was in perfect condition. I'm waiting today for my copies of
The Testaments and hoping they arrive in similar condition. We'll see how friendly the UPS folks and I get during the process... I did get some credit from Amazon already, as they were supposed to arrive yesterday. It's not the free month of Prime that they used to do, though - now it's just $5. Missing the guaranteed delivery date is another thing they've gotten sloppy with over the last couple years.
