Solo
An unspectacular if serviceable addition to the Star Wars canon. Its a mildly entertaining action film with too much fan service and 'box checking', but manages to be occasionally entertaining despite itself.
6/10
Book Club:
Cute but not very funny. Terribly predictable. 3/6 Beers on the RFSRS.
Cargo - Netflix. Loved it. 8/10.... just watch it and don’t watch any trailers

Annihilation - 5/5. I hope sequels don't get made. This was perfect. My kind of science fiction.
Hereditary: I'm going to do this somewhat in reverse and give my rating first.
5.5/6 Beers on the RFSRS AND a dose of Thorazine for this beauty of a horror movie where seemingly everyone is a little-or a lot crazy.
Starting slow and creepy, the movie keeps adding shocker upon shocker, making one wonder if their heart can take it.
Toni Collette gives an Oscar worthy performance as the matriach in a family dealing with the recent death of her (not beloved) mother. Collette is an artist who builds lifelike miniature dioramas.
Very very minor spoiler
A tragedy sends Collette's character off the deep end and continues the ramp up the tension between the family members and among the viewing audience.
The final half of the 3rd reel takes a bizarre turn that almost appears from no where. Careful remembrance of clues provided along the way will help to explain.
Note: Milly Shapiro as daughter "Charlie" gives one of the creepiest performances I've ever seen.
Go see it now on the big screen. You may not sleep for a week, but you will be glad you viewed the film.
Has anyone here viewed "Hereditary"?
I'm watching it this week, Jerome.
Gonna try to go this week now.
Watched it Saturday morning. I don't post many reviews but thought it was a better than average film with great acting from the female lead.
Edit: I should add that they did an awesome job with ramping up the suspense throughout the whole movie. The ending was cool and there was one scene (when they were eating dinner) that I thought was outstanding.
Hotel Artemis:
Another GREAT "B-movie". Never to win an best picture, the film delivers on the entertainment quotient. There may be some deja vu from those who viewed the Jonathan Wick films, but I never felt it was plagiarism (which in film is done all of the time). Jodie Foster throws it all out there; either not allowing favorable lighting and makeup, or using them to make her look like the broken agoraphobic physician she has become.
Dave Bautista is her "Orderly" in a role tailor made for him.
Jeff Goldman shows up in the 3rd reel, and does his normal great job of being himself.
4/6 Beers on the RFSRS.
Looking forward to Hereditary, Hotel Artemis, and Jurassic World. June's gonna be a busy movie month. I saw Solo on Saturday, which I had a great time with. Much better than I was expecting it to be. And my cousin loved it too.
Finally say Dead Pool 2. Really enjoyed it. Not as good as the original, but lived up to expectations. Loved the extra credit stuff and the many wink-wink Marvel moments. 8/10
Ocean's 8:
Entertaining, and wonderful costume design. Actresses pretty much play themselves. I most enjoyed Awkwafina's performance. The plot (theft plan) has more holes in it than Swiss cheese.
3.5/6 beers on the RFSRS.
Hereditary
A real slow burn as stated above. I have real thoughts on what I seen. And...
