The Great Movie Tournament - 2000s: Octofinal 2 of 8

Well, I see at least one other person agrees with me so far. I'm pretty sure Up won't win this, but I do feel it's a better film.

I did love UP. I found it to be the best Pixar film made to be honest.... but I believe Dark Knight is the best film of this decade.

The first 10 minutes of Up are fantastic. The rest of the movie isn't all that great. The second half is just a marvel in how bad it gets after such a grounded, soulful opening. I've never rewatched Up, but I've watched the opening of the film dozens of times. I see it as a perfect short film bloated into mainstream family fare, and that's just sad to me.

The Dark Knight easily wins here.

I couldn't agree with this more. UP gets sooo much credit for the opening, but honestly the rest of the movie is middle of the road Pixar at best.

Yeah, the first 15 minutes are elite tier animation, but the rest of the movie - while still good - is nowhere near Best Of anything.
