Do not disparage The Thespian!
A Brazilian lawyer and gun activist (12k Tiktok followers followed him for his gun content) refused to remove or disclose he had a hidden gun on his person when entering an MRI scan. When the machine turned on it pulled the gun out of his waistband and it fired into his stomach which killed him days later. He was 40.

Bill Watterson returns!

Quote:
From Bill Watterson, bestselling creator of the beloved comic strip Calvin and Hobbes, and John Kascht, one of America’s most renowned caricaturists, comes a mysterious and beautifully illustrated fable about what lies beyond human understanding.
In a fable for grown-ups by cartoonist Bill Watterson, a long-ago kingdom is afflicted with unexplainable calamities. Hoping to end the torment, the king dispatches his knights to discover the source of the mysterious events. Years later, a single battered knight returns.
For the book's illustrations, Watterson and caricaturist John Kascht worked together for several years in unusually close collaboration. Both artists abandoned their past ways of working, inventing images together that neither could anticipate—a mysterious process in its own right.
I started a thread in Dutch Hill, but it's worth posting here too.
Hey one of those "good people" from the Tikki Torch rally killed himself.
Teddy Joseph Von Nukem, one of the most prominent faces from the 2017 neo-Nazi rally, was set to face trial for smuggling fentanyl across the southern border.
So far, 2023 gave me good news. After 3 years I finally got paid by my former company the money they owed me. That money plus some savings allowed me and my wife to seek for an apartment to buy and rent, and today we bought one. :) And yesterday I had a very good meeting with Penguin Random House about this year's projects (I've been working as a freelancer for them since 2010). The first good news is that my SK podcast is doing very well and there are chances it's renewed for a third season. Then I was offer another monthly paid project and there are a couple of other projects I'll be taking care of during the year, including one for fans when Holly is released.
And finally it seems this year my entepreneur might have more projects than any previous year. I'm currently working a deal with two diferent parties and if everything goes as planned it'll allow me to be back on track after three bad years.
I'm doing my best to keep myself focused. I'm not getting any younger and this might allow me to organize my future and my family's.
Good to hear, Ari!
Thanks, guys!
If anyone is in (or knows someone in) a band that needs a name, here's one you can use:
Murph and The Doorways
The full description isn't worth writing out, but suffice it to say it derives from my mother-in-law and how fucked up she is.
Totally unrelated to your mother-in-law, my go-to band name should I ever need it was always going to be Psychadelic Fish Sneakers.Quote:

Dilbert got fired...
Hundreds of newspapers drop ‘Dilbert’ comic strip after racist tirade from creator Scott Adams
After calling Black people a hate group on his podcast, he continued...." “I don’t want to have anything to do with them,” Adams added. “And I would say, based on the current way things are going, the best advice I would give to White people is to get the hell away from Black people, just get the f**k away … because there is no fixing this.” "
He is surprised that this got him fired (and the numbers he quotes from that poll are inaccurate)...

Wow. This is the first I've heard of this. It's terrible because I was a big fan of Dilbert. I have tons of the calendars and even have a DVD set of the short lived cartoon.
I really thought he was smarter/better than this.
Of course now he's complaining about free speech because newspapers all over the country are dropping his comic strip (that's not how it works) and somehow Elon Musk is also in his corner. :rolleyes2:
BAM and B&N had SIGNED copies of Cormac McCarthy's latest boxed set for $56, now, between $600 and $1500 from what I've seen. Anyone lucky and smart enough to get one?

Today, Folio Society announced its "spring collection," 9 new books which include Doctor Strange and Childhood's End (the page linked below shows 10 results; I suspect one is a reprint):

9 new books, they just posted the two versions of Roadside Picnic separately.
I was interested in Consider Phlebas and Childhood's End. They're both a little uninspired to say the least.
Never heard of "Timeshares" companies before
Last Week Tonight did a segment about it, it's quite... interesting!

I love books. I have read my whole life. I remember reading IT in Grade 9 after my mother forbade it.. so i read at recess and noon and on the bus when other kids were being...kids. When the addiction of collecting books became overwhelming in 2010 I started to use family money that was for home/food/etc to buy books. The wife seen a Betts charge for $750 and LOST IT. Told me never again. It was the ONLY time we ever really had a big fight over money. I had to make a choice... SO I sold ALL my Gift editions and used that money to buy and sell and trade my way to another signed book. A year or two later... I was able to buy my first lettered. A year after than my first Whelan large original. I then started the largest Facebook group on the Rare side of collecting and then I made my book sales legit by making my own company. Today I am proud to say that I am less than two months from leaving my job and going full time as a book dealer. I hope I can do it and feel I can. TO ANYONE here that supported me on this journey.. thank you. I mean that from the bottom of my heart.. thank you. I will continue to do all I can to be the best I can at this.
