The Grant edition of ‘The Waste Lands’ was sold out by this date and the
paperback was selling well. King was still receiving a huge volume of mail
about the book. Although he had no inspiration for continuing the ‘Dark
Tower’ series King did have an idea about a lady buying a picture in a
pawnshop and kind of falling into it
