Stephen King wrote in his journal at his Turtleback Lane, Lovell home. Joe
King and his family had arrived around noon and the whole King family
celebrated Father's Day with a dinner. King noted it would be a good to go
back to writing about Roland and also that he intended to go for a walk
Stephen King took his usual walk that afternoon along Route 7, near Lovell.
He was hit by a van driven by Bryan Smith of Fryeburg and mortally injured
on a section of the road locally known as Slab City Hill. King was
pronounced dead at the Northern Cumberland Memorial Hospital at 6:02pm,
aged 52 (sic)
