No, not OJ (although that could be fun). This is about Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, Maggie and all the other strange folks that populate Springfield, whoknowswhere

Hopefully you guys will want to play, I am no expert but it may be the thing I know most about trivia wise.

Or history maybe...

Okay

What is Comic Book Guy's real name?

Storyslinger
09-14-2007, 07:53 AM
????

Mike Beck
09-14-2007, 09:06 AM
ah shit. i don't remember.

Matt
09-14-2007, 09:09 AM
Its only mentioned once, my son wrote it down

sarah
09-14-2007, 09:12 AM
What is Comic Book Guy's real name?

Jeff Albertson?

please say i'm right

Matt
09-14-2007, 09:18 AM
DING!!

I didn't think you could get sexier in my eyes Sarah, but you just did.

fernandito
09-14-2007, 10:56 AM
Hmm, that's odd - I reference his "Worst (blank) ever" at least once a week, yet I don't even know his real name

Matt
09-14-2007, 12:04 PM
That was him, like I said, it is only mentioned once in all the seasons it has been on.

sarajean
09-14-2007, 02:09 PM
damn, i knew that one, too.

weak.

sarah
09-14-2007, 04:47 PM
in the episode where lisa goes to work with homer she askes if there is any fruit to eat. What does Homer tell her?

(hint...I'm looking for a color)

sarajean
09-14-2007, 04:53 PM
this has purple in it. purple is a fruit.

sarah
09-14-2007, 04:54 PM
dur.

you're up :D

sarajean
09-14-2007, 04:59 PM
so easy.

okay...what distracts sideshow bob's son from chasing down the simpsons, and what does he say?

Matt
09-14-2007, 05:39 PM
Oh no, a recent one I haven't seen a thousand times....

Eeek!! Its right at the end.

Vendetta!!

I just don't know...car keys?

sarajean
09-14-2007, 05:44 PM
well, vendetta is part of what he's saying. the thing doing the distracting is said in italian.

so, you're.. about ⅓ right.

Matt
09-15-2007, 07:50 AM
You are never going to believe it but this episode was the 10pm one last night

I pointed and told Dora..."this is it!!"

So the answer...a butterfly distracted him

farfalla vendetta

Mattrick
09-16-2007, 09:47 AM
Simpsons episodes in the last eight years should be excluded as a majority of them aren't overly special. I've no clue.

Matt
09-17-2007, 07:47 AM
I'm sure that one is right, just waiting for the confirmation.

sarajean
09-17-2007, 01:20 PM
you were right, matt.

your turn.

Matt
09-17-2007, 01:23 PM
What are the three things that destroy the comic book that Bart, Milhouse and Martin buy. It was Radioactive Man #1

Odetta
09-17-2007, 08:22 PM
um... lightning, the dog, and... arghhh!

Mattrick
09-17-2007, 09:47 PM
lightning, dog, rain/mud

Matt
09-18-2007, 04:07 AM
You got it man!!

Odetta
09-18-2007, 06:21 AM
damn it!

Matt
09-18-2007, 06:36 AM
You were so close.

Mattrick
09-18-2007, 10:10 AM
when I was thinking about it, I remembered a dog but wasn't sure and the lightning was a given. lol

What does Sideshow Bob use for writing?

Storyslinger
09-18-2007, 10:12 AM
a pen
ha ha ha :D

Matt
09-18-2007, 10:41 AM
A knife and his blood. When he writes letters to the editor, he almost always passes out.

Mattrick
09-18-2007, 11:31 AM
post your question, that was too easy :D

Matt
09-18-2007, 11:39 AM
Okay, we'll stay with Sideshow Bob.

I am looking for another arch nemisis besides Bart.

sarah
09-18-2007, 12:30 PM
is the answer you're looking for Krusty?

Matt
09-18-2007, 12:33 PM
nope and this may be too obscure, but the clue gives it away.

not a person.

Mattrick
09-18-2007, 12:56 PM
His brother Cedric, who is ironically voiced by David Hyde Pierce?

nvm, not a person.

must be a newer episode I haven't seen.

Matt
09-18-2007, 12:58 PM
something a person would garden with?

Man...I thought this would be easy, it appears every episode.

sarajean
09-18-2007, 01:01 PM
a rake!

Matt
09-18-2007, 01:03 PM

Thanks SJ, you are up

sarajean
09-18-2007, 01:11 PM
who was bart's first real kiss?

Matt
09-18-2007, 01:13 PM
Lovejoy's little minx--I mean, his daughter.

but now I am thinking the that may be wrong, it may be the other girl.

sarajean
09-18-2007, 01:59 PM
no, you're right.

your go. :D

Matt
09-18-2007, 02:08 PM

What is the name of the huge fish Homer catches while he is supposed to be working on his marriage at Lovejoy's retreat?

Fall of Gilead
09-18-2007, 02:12 PM
Damn! I have that episode on DVD but can't remember the fish's name. Short of me cheating and peeking at the booklet (I'm sure it's in there) but I'll be a nice werebat.

sarajean
09-18-2007, 02:18 PM
general sherman.

Matt
09-18-2007, 04:57 PM
ding!

You are up SJ

sarajean
09-18-2007, 05:10 PM
this is an easy one. what did troy mcclure claim the cash register reads as it scans maggie in the opening sequence?

Matt
09-18-2007, 05:27 PM
OMG!! I was totally going to ask this one :couple:

NRA4EVAR

sarajean
09-18-2007, 05:42 PM
correctamundo.

that's funny that you were going to ask the same one. i keep watching the episodes with an eye for trivia stuff now.

Matt
09-19-2007, 07:06 AM
I think we have been on the same wavelength all the way through this so far SJ.

Okay, here we go:

What was Homer going to do while in charge of the stonecutters to give back to the community?

Matt
09-20-2007, 11:49 AM

This one is easy!! Do I have to wait for SJ? Is she the only other Simpsons fan?!?!?

ZoNeSeeK
09-20-2007, 06:49 PM
he makes them do volunteer work in the community

Matt
09-20-2007, 07:09 PM
nope---:(

Hint is...blue and gray

sarajean
09-20-2007, 09:38 PM
are you talking about the hospital?

Matt
09-21-2007, 06:17 AM
no, it was a really crazy idea and after they turned the stonecutters in to the no homer club at the ice cream shop, he did it anyway.

It was in the last scene of the episode, him on the chair in the old stonecutters hall (in his robe and underwear)--Marge trying to comfort him with talk of matching rings.

ZoNeSeeK
09-24-2007, 12:22 AM
*crickets*

Matt
09-24-2007, 05:57 AM
Yeah, I am guessing that one won't work.

It was reenacting the civil war using monkeys

If someone else wants to go they can

Mattrick
09-25-2007, 01:04 AM
In the episode with 'The All You Can Eat Barbeque Restaurant), Homer says that he's only human for want to eat more than *blank* servings of pork a week.

Matt
09-25-2007, 12:37 PM
**bangs head**

"you don't make friends with salad" conga line...

"magical creature..."

stumped.

Mordred Deschain
09-26-2007, 06:08 AM
damn I should know this

sarajean
09-27-2007, 04:25 PM
is it six? i remember that marge reminds him that he promised to try to keep pork down to only 6 servings per week, to which he replies that he's only human.

Matt
10-02-2007, 01:01 PM
Is this right Mattrick?

sarajean
10-02-2007, 05:13 PM
he hasn't been here since thursday...

fernandito
10-02-2007, 05:15 PM
(Homer-esque whispering)

I think she's implying something...

sarajean
10-02-2007, 05:30 PM

no, i'm just saying that i'm almost positive i'm right (the question didn't make a whole lot of sense with how i remember the episode), but since he hasn't been here, we have no way of knowing.

Mattrick
10-02-2007, 07:43 PM
is it six? i remember that marge reminds him that he promised to try to keep pork down to only 6 servings per week, to which he replies that he's only human.

Correct.

sarajean
10-02-2007, 08:56 PM
name the vegas wives.

Matt
10-04-2007, 02:08 PM
Amber and Ginger.

Man...that was hard to find.

sarajean
10-04-2007, 02:15 PM
i'm disappointed in you, matt. you had to look it up? for shame.

:P

your go.

Matt
10-04-2007, 02:20 PM
I really did--I went back through my DVD's and that was a season I didn't have.

I wasn't lucky enough to have it play for me on the regular re runs.

and hey! Nobody got my monkeys question.

Okay, here we go....

In the first Kang and Kodos Halloween Special, what is the final title of the cookbook?

Mordred Deschain
10-04-2007, 03:03 PM
How to cook for many humans? Damn...I should know this one too!

Mordred Deschain
10-04-2007, 03:08 PM
How to Cook <for> Forty Humans

Matt
10-04-2007, 06:11 PM
you got it!!

Mordred Deschain
10-04-2007, 06:27 PM
crap, now I have to remember something!

What is Homer's response when Marge tells him, "Homer, the plant called. They said if you don't show up tomorrow don't bother showing up on Monday. "?

sarajean
10-04-2007, 06:29 PM
whoo hoo! four day weekend!

Mordred Deschain
10-04-2007, 06:31 PM
LOL you got it. You should know, I repeat that line at work alllll the time!!

sarajean
10-04-2007, 06:58 PM
as do i...that's how i knew it so quickly. :D

what does homer change his name to in season 10?

Mattrick
10-04-2007, 09:14 PM
Is that when he changes it to Max Power? Or was that an earlier season?

"Wow! Great name!"
"I got it off a hair dryer'"

sarajean
10-04-2007, 09:56 PM
Max Power is correct.

i still have the song in my head from when i posted this earlier.

Matt
10-05-2007, 06:31 AM
It is the name you cannot tooooooooouch!!

SpaceMaN
01-01-2009, 07:08 AM
What does Homer's brother tell Bart and Lisa to call him?

jayson
01-01-2009, 08:13 AM
Unky Herb

SpaceMaN
01-02-2009, 08:35 AM
Hell yes! You're up.

jayson
01-02-2009, 08:44 AM
Thank you. :)

In Separate Vocations (one of the most overlooked episodes) what does Principal Skinner lovingly call the puma?

Ryan
01-19-2009, 11:50 AM
Thank you. :)

In Separate Vocations (one of the most overlooked episodes) what does Principal Skinner lovingly call the puma?

"The Principal of the Mountains"

jayson
01-19-2009, 11:55 AM
"The Principal of the Mountains"

Yes! Very well done Ryan. Perhaps my favorite Skinner moment ever when he is standing there in front of the puma...

"Sleek vigilant puma, principal of the mountains."

You're up...

Ryan
01-19-2009, 11:57 AM
What's the name of the Grade 4 Gerbil who dies

jayson
01-19-2009, 12:03 PM
Superdude?

Ryan
01-19-2009, 12:05 PM
Superdude?

Correct.....
and those two items of trivia are the extent of my simpsons knowledge.
The Fetha Be yours my friend

jayson
01-19-2009, 12:07 PM
Well if you only know two things about the Simpsons, at least they were both funny. :)

Ok, this one, from one of the greatest episodes ever, has multiple answers...

During the President's Day school play in "I Love Lisa" there is a song about the "mediocre Presidents". Who are they?

Heather19
01-19-2009, 12:12 PM
How did I not know this thread existed.
Sadly I'm terrible when it comes to trivia, and they must be mediocre because I can't even come up with one name.

jayson
01-19-2009, 12:15 PM
I just found it recently myself. I think I'll be in this thread a lot.

As for the question, it's from possibly my fav musical moment in the entire run of the show and it's a top 5 fav episode for me so I know it inside and out.

And yes, they were mediocre. Quite.

The Lady of Shadows
01-19-2009, 02:53 PM
wow. this was back when the simpsons was good. so, do i just answer?

can i sing? that's how i remember it. . . .

there's taylor, there's tyler, there's fillmore and there's hayes.
there's William Henry Harrison,
"I died in thirty days.''

jayson
01-19-2009, 03:34 PM
"We are the adequate, forgettable,
occasionally regrettable,
caretaker Presidents of the U-S-A!"

Why does that seem like such an appropriate song to me tonight? :orely:

Nicely done t/s.
One of the greatest episodes in the entire run of the show.
You're up...

The Lady of Shadows
01-20-2009, 09:54 AM
okay, here's one that's probably too easy:

in "monty can't buy me love" mr. burns goes on an improvement kick after finding out he's ranked lower than someone on the most popular billionaire list.

1. who is he ranked below?
2. from whom does he enlist help?
3. what things does he do to increase his popularity?

jayson
01-27-2009, 08:56 AM
1. Is it Arthur Fortune that he's ranked behind? I know Burns gets ticked off when Fortune opens his MegaStore.

2. He enlists Homer for help.

3. He throws silver dollars on a crowd of people and tries to capture the Loch Ness monster and bring it to Springfield.

Matt
01-27-2009, 09:00 AM
I think he is ranked below Adam Sandler too.

jayson
01-27-2009, 09:05 AM
That's right Matt. :)

When it aired I thought it was the worst episode ever but they've gotten even worse, but this one was still a good example of how around season 10 (which I am pretty sure this one is in) they forgot to how to write stories. Still some good jokes though.

The Lady of Shadows
01-27-2009, 02:46 PM
well. now jayson and matt get to fight over the feather. because it IS adam sandler that burns is ranked behind. jayson's other answers are correct.

i love this episode for the pure unadultered stupidity of asking homer simpson for help with anything.

jayson
01-27-2009, 02:59 PM
Yes, the episode is pure unadulterated stupidity. :P

So how do you want to fight Matt? Pistols at 10 paces? Swords? Battle of wits? Rock paper scissors?

Matt
01-27-2009, 03:04 PM
The last one but...in a CAGE!

I'll go:

What did Mo say as Homer was hauled away by a male panda kicking and screaming?

(I thought his comment to Lisa on the bench later about reeking of panda love was one of the best ever )

jayson
01-27-2009, 03:06 PM
Isn't that when Moe says, "You ain't gonnin' nowhere, cutie"?

Matt
01-27-2009, 03:11 PM
yes sir, you are up

(it's classic Mo) :wtf:

jayson
01-27-2009, 03:13 PM
Ok, a two parter... in the sixth season episode "A Star is Burns" (the one with the film festival), who does Mr. Burns hire to direct his film, and what is the name of his film?

Matt
01-27-2009, 03:19 PM
He hires Steven Speilbergs non union equivalent

Senor Speilbergo

A Burns for all Seasons

jayson
01-27-2009, 03:52 PM
Good job Matt. Your turn.

Matt
01-28-2009, 03:46 PM
Okay, let's see here...

What are Homer and Marge doing when they find out having sex in public gets them hot?

jayson
01-28-2009, 03:55 PM
What specifically are they doing? I know it starts when they go to get a new motor for the fridge and wind up in that barn. Is that what you mean?

college_ewok
01-28-2009, 06:44 PM
I thought they were playing putt putt

jayson
01-28-2009, 07:43 PM
If I'm not mistaken, they are playing mini-golf when they almost get caught and then are chased. The actual realization begins earlier when they have sex in the barn and almost get caught and then again at the bed and breakfast when the maid walks in on them. I suppose it's up to Matt what he meant by "when they find out" but it would seem to me that the mini-golf was after they already knew.

Matt
01-29-2009, 09:28 AM
What specifically are they doing? I know it starts when they go to get a new motor for the fridge and wind up in that barn. Is that what you mean?

That is correct!

jayson
01-29-2009, 12:51 PM
Whoo hoo!

I love the scene of the drive out to the place in the country because it's one of the many scenes over the years which used Herb Alpert's "Spanish Flea" as the music cue.

New question coming shortly.

jayson
01-29-2009, 04:18 PM
Ok, next one...

What was the name on Homer's fake ID when he was a teenager?

Jon
02-01-2009, 05:28 AM
Courtney Love?

jayson
02-02-2009, 08:55 AM
*bump*

Seriously? Nobody knows this one? I thought this was actually far too easy.

The question again is...

What was the name on Homer's fake ID when he was a teenager?

Definitely one of the more memorable moments of Season 4 (aka the best season in the history of the show). There's a hint. Now who knows the answer?

jayson
02-03-2009, 06:51 AM
I must say that I am shocked that nobody has gotten this one. I think I will write it off as people not reading this thread often enough because if it really is that people don't know this, it makes me sad. :(

Anyway, the answer is Brian McGee. The scene took place in the episode "Duffless" in Season 4 in which Homer gets a DUI on his way home from the Duff Brewery tour and Marge makes him promise not to drink beer for a month.

As Homer is pouring his beer down the sink he sings the following...

When I was seventeen
I drank some very good beer
I drank some very good beer
I purchased with a fake ID
My name was Brian McGee
I stayed up listening to Queen
When I was seventeen

There was also a little flashback shown of teenage Homer buying the beer and going home and passing out listening to music.

So, here is a new question (once more from Season 4)...

In "Lisa the Beauty Queen" where did pageant winner Amber Dempsey get her eyelash implants?

Matt
02-03-2009, 07:12 AM
Uggg...so busy. I have not had a chance to get back to this.

I'll have to think over the Amber Dempsy question.

jayson
02-03-2009, 07:53 AM
I thought it might be that people just didn't see the question. As big a fan as you are Matt (particularly of Homer) I figured you would get the Brian McGee question. :)

jayson
02-05-2009, 12:27 PM
In "Lisa the Beauty Queen" where did pageant winner Amber Dempsey get her eyelash implants?

*bump*

Anyone? Such a great episode. Most of the early episodes about Lisa are hilarious. If nobody gets it by tonight, I'll try another one, but three strikes and you're all out. :D

Odetta
02-05-2009, 01:16 PM
I remember this, but for the life of me, I can't recall the eyelash implants

jayson
02-05-2009, 01:19 PM
She comes in and bats her eyelashes.

Lisa: I thought those were illegal.

Girl: Not in _________.

Odetta
02-05-2009, 01:43 PM
argh... I can see it in my head! :pullhair:

jayson
02-05-2009, 01:45 PM
If you could hear it in your head as well you'd be all set. :P

Odetta
02-05-2009, 01:46 PM
I KNOW!!!!

Odetta
02-05-2009, 01:48 PM
it's somewhere in South America, isn't it?

jayson
02-05-2009, 01:53 PM
It is.

Heather19
02-05-2009, 03:28 PM
Sorry Jayson. I can remember the episode, just not that line. It's been so long since I've seen that one.
I really need to brush up on my Simpson trivia. I might just go and watch some of my dvd's this weekend.

jayson
02-05-2009, 03:31 PM
Season 4, Season 4!!! :D

Heather19
02-05-2009, 03:47 PM
I only have up till Season 3 :(
I really need to go get that one though, there's so many great episodes that season.

Odetta
02-06-2009, 07:35 AM
it's Paraguay, isn't it? :nana::nana::nana::nana:

jayson
02-06-2009, 07:48 AM
Hooray O!

It is Paraguay. I love that episode.

It's got the sweetest exchange between Homer and Marge about Lisa.

Homer: Hey, nobody's prettier than my little girl!

Marge: Mmmmm, you're looking at her through a father's eyes.

Homer: Well if I could gouge out somebody else's eyes and shove them into my sockets I would; but to me, she's beautiful!!!

Your turn Odetta.

Odetta
02-06-2009, 07:54 AM
:nana:

OK... in the Halloween episode where Homer goes 3D, he goes into a store at the end of the clip... what does the store sell?

jayson
02-06-2009, 07:55 AM
Ooh, I know but I shall let someone else try to get it, for now anyway. Good one too!

Odetta
02-06-2009, 08:00 AM
it's easy, I know... but it's still funny

jayson
02-06-2009, 08:01 AM
Oh it's hilarious and definitely a place Homer would like in any dimensions.

Matt
02-06-2009, 10:49 AM
Erotic cakes!!

I love an easier type question there.

Odetta
02-06-2009, 02:24 PM
yeppers!
go, Almighty Ruler of the board

Matt
02-06-2009, 02:26 PM
Oh man, that should be my member title.

okay...

Where did Maggie stay while The Simpsons were lost in the woods during the first season?

Heather19
02-06-2009, 02:31 PM
with the bears

Matt
02-06-2009, 02:32 PM
You got it Heather...go to town. :huglove:

Heather19
02-06-2009, 02:41 PM
 Yay, I finally got one! That is one of my all-time favorite episodes.

Lets see, this might be pretty easy but oh well.
The Simpsons go to an auction at Ranier Wolfcastle's and they purchase so many things, how does Homer figure out how to get everything in the car when they go to leave.

Matt
02-06-2009, 03:00 PM
He uses his Tetris knowledge and then is carried home by Wolfcastle

Heather19
02-06-2009, 03:04 PM
Correct! I always get a kick out that bit when I see it. Maybe it's just from playing Tetris so much, but after playing it for awhile, all I can picture is tetris pieces falling into place.

You're up

Matt
02-06-2009, 03:10 PM
Yay! I love the easy ones, makes it fun.

Let's see...:orely:

What word did Krusty have to say to make Stampy become submissive?

(hint: Seeing Marge's enhanced chest reminded him what to say)

jayson
02-06-2009, 04:36 PM

In Marge Versus the Monorail, Marge tells Homer a family of possums is living in the monorail. Homer has already named one of them. What's it's name?

This is reportedly one of Matt Groening's favorite jokes in the whole run of the show.

Nobody knows this one, huh? Perhaps I need to re-evaluate my idea of an easy question because I definitely thought that qualified :orely:

It's one of the best deliveries Dan Castellaneta has given to any of Homer's lines...

Marge: Homer, there's a family of possums in here.

Homer: I call the big one Bitey.

On the Season 4 DVD's commentaries, Groening says it's one of his favorite jokes in the entire series.

So, on with the game and I will try to make the next one even easier...

How about this one (once more from Season 4)

In Marge in Chains, how does the Osaka flu virus get to Springfiled?

Matt

Yay!

Thanks for dumbing them down Jayson

The flu arrives in a box that Homer ordered. Dr. Nicks Juice Loosener I believe.

jayson

Firstly, yes that is correct. The flu arrives in boxes of the Juice Loosener. The scenes of the boxes being opened and the flu attacking people are hilarious, culminating in Chief Wiggum firing his pistol at the oncoming cloud of flu.

Thank goodness for you Matt. There's always someone to play this game with. It's my favorite of the trivia games here. I am a nerd about a lot of things, but none more so than the Simpsons. We have the Simpsons Jeopardy game but none of my friends will play with me because we tried once and nobody else got a turn after I got control of the board. Now they play against each other and I have to be Trebek

I think my favorite part of that episode is when the boys are in the treehouse and it's pouring outside and Marge asks Homer to check on the boys. Homer never takes his eyes off the tv and just says "They're fine" at the same time a lightning flash illuminates the treehouse in the background and you can see for a second that the boys are trying to kill each other. Perfectly executed visual joke and the reading Castellaneta gives that line is spot on.

How's This : What Show Just Got Renewed for 2 More Seasons ?

LOS ANGELES – Fox says it's renewing "The Simpsons" for another two seasons, which will secure its place as TV's longest-running prime-time series.

Now in its 20th season, "The Simpsons" already had tied record-holder "Gunsmoke." The Western drama series aired for two decades on CBS before it ended in 1975.

"The Simpsons" will pass that mark next season. The two-year, 44-episode pickup announced Thursday by Fox will bring the total number of "Simpsons" episodes to 493.

The animated comedy about Homer and Marge Simpson, their children and the town of Springfield is not only enduring but much-honored: It's received a Peabody and 24 Emmys among other awards.

Um, that isn't completely true... Law and Order ( the original ) is also in the running for longest running television show, it just hasn't been renewed that far ahead yet. NBC will only do single year renewals on most of their shows.

02-27-2009, 12:57 AM
I recently watched the episode where Bart works for Fat Tony, and his name in that one was William Willams. But I haven't a clue as to the other names.

You got it Heather, and the William "Fat Tony" Williams joke from Bart the Murderer is the best Fat Tony's real name joke of all of them because obviously getting to Tony from William is just plain silly. The other answers I was looking for were Anthony "Fat Tony" D'Amico (as announced at Homer's boxing match versus Drederick Tatum), or Marion as once declared by Jimmy the Snitch.

And as for the news of the renewal of the Simpsons, I can only say what I've said a million times, enough already. Two more years is two more too many. It's over. Let it go.

I guess I will just give the answer. Bart calls Australia to find out which way the water runs in toilets there. It stems from Lisa's explanation about water running a different way in the southern hemisphere due to the coriolis effect. Bart and Lisa having their "toothpaste race" in the toilet is an opening scene that identifies the episode instantaneously. It's an episode I can identify in one shot.

So, a new question is in order, and here it is...

I don't remember how old Marge says she is then. I know Homer says several times in Season 1 that he is 36 and since they were in the same high school class, then Marge is the same age.

As for the phone call, she calls Dr. Marvin Monroe's radio show which results in Homer being nice to her and promising her a night out which leads to hiring the Babysitter Bandit to watch the kids.
