on the website NisHere, we can read:

Yes. Stephen King and Marvel will be releasing a comic book miniseries based on “N.” in early 2009.

N? I have never heard of that. I'll keep an eye out though.

N. is to be the only "unpublished" story in King's newest collection Just After Sunset, to be published this November.

I'm not too sure I'm excited about this one. Don't get me wrong, I love SK and I love comics, it just seems that all of a sudden King is taking over the comic market. The Dark Tower ones were a great idea, and really - who can argue with a book like The Stand being adapted, but I don't want to see every King story as a comic!

King has too many books, but I've seen the problem with Gaiman. Gaiman does comics, and he does text. But every time he creates a novel, the comic industry adapts it into a comic. If Gaiman really wanted that novel to be a comic he would have written it in comic form. The new comic Coraline is ridiculous because it was heavily illustrated as a novel. We didn't really need this, but the comic industry is cashing in. Like they are with King. and why not? The Dark Tower sold like crazy.

Anyway, I watched the first episode of N yesterday. I like the animated format. Looks to be cool!

The thing for me is this: a comic version of the Dark Tower gave an opportunity to add to the story. The Stand is just a kick-ass story that will translate well into a comic. And the short films for N is a cool idea and great marketing tool - but why a comic?! I would hope it has to stop somewhere, but like you said, they're cashing in and realistically, we won't stop buying them!

I enjoyed it overall. Great ideas, particularly on King's 'mind eating itself' themes. Generally scary sound effects.

I agree concerning the ending. Some kind of twist would be nice. Even just something less repetitive where the 3 people are concerned.

Amazon's listing says it includes issues 01-04, but when they'll be released as comics is anyones guess, Marvel have the comic releases up-to the end of Oct online now so either there not bothering with comics or they just haven't decided when to release them yet.

I did a pretty good search of Marvel's site, as well ... but to be honest, they don't have the most comprehensive data there.

Could be they do not intend to release paper issues. Who knows?!?

As I find info, I'll update here and I encourage everyone to do the same!

Marvel Announces Graphic Fiction Adaptation of Stephen King’s " N." (http://www.newsarama.com/comics/091221-Stephen-King-N-Marvel.html)

Marvel is proud to announce Stephen King’s “N.” #1 (of 4), a new graphic fiction adaptation of the bestselling author’s chilling short story in his recently-released collection, Just After Sunset. The blockbuster creative team of Marc Guggenheim and Alex Maleev, also responsible for the red-hot Stephen King’s “N” Motion Comic, tell the story of something terrifying hidden in Ackerman’s Field. A bizarre arrangement of eight stones keeps a nightmare contained, but when--in the eye of an unfortunate beholder--the eight stones become seven, the fabric of what we think is real begins to shred, and an unbearable doom seizes the mind.

"It's absolutely thrilling for Marvel to be working on 'N.' again and having the honor to publish it as a comic book miniseries," said said Ruwan Jayatilleke, Marvel Senior Vice President, Development & Planning, Print, Animation and Digital Media. "Both as a fan of the story and a producer on the 'N.' motion comic, I am absolutely psyched for the terrifying ride that Marc, Alex, and the editors have planned for readers!"

It’s the graphic fiction adaptation demanded by fans all over the world-- Stephen King’s “N.” begins in March and no horror fan can afford to miss this alarming tale!

Patient Case Study: "N." Subject initially complained of insomnia, stating that standard pharma was not having any effect. I will prescribe him something stronger. Subject is also open and frank about obsessive-compulsive tendencies, most notably; he has a habit of counting, and speaks of "good" and "bad" numbers. Traces symptoms back to visit of certain field in rural Maine with a rock formation that changes in number. Calls it a "faded place" where he could "tear through the fabric of reality." Also recalls a "grinning figure trapped within the stones." Suggests strong bouts of delusion. Prognosis: stronger sedative, intensive continued therapy.

There is something unearthly and mysterious deep in Ackerman's Field in rural Maine. There is a Stonehenge-like arrangement of seven stones with a horrifying EYE in the center. And whatever dwells there in that strange, windswept setting may have brought about the suicide of one man... and harbor death for the OCD afflicted 'N.', whose visits to the field have passed beyond compulsion into the realm of obsession. Based on the chilling short story from the recent Stephen King collection, JUST AFTER SUNSET, this adaptation will provide nightmares aplenty. I asked at 3 different comics shops in London and they all said that as far as they know, they'll be no variants. I hope they're wrong though or that at the very least the comic will do so well that they'll start doing "auxiliary" issues like Avatar does (back issues reprinted with different art). I'm not holding my breath though.

Joe Quesada usually has a tight schedule at cons. He goes to a lot of them, but usually is on a lot of panels and does a limited signing table.
