I've been meaning to post my collection for awhile but haven't gotten around to it. I finally got all my photos together and took some more of some things that I didn't have a photo record of.

I don't have nearly the collection as some on the site, but I really like what I have. It's still growing so I hope that someday it'll be overflowing with cool books.

Hope you enjoy looking!

Thanks Pam! I really thought the framing worked out well too. Hopefully, one day I'll be able to get some of the prints that Michael Whelan has up for sale--they're great too.

This is an item that I think is pretty cool. It's an end paper/limitation page from The Dark Tower III. Ned's signature got a little messed up so it wasn't sent to Stephen King for his signature.

The following are two books by Christopher Priest that he generously sent out of his personal copies and signed to me. I’m a big fan of his writing so these are really special to me. Not only is he a magnificent writer, but he’s a great person too.

Thanks Patrick! Glad you enjoyed looking at them. My collection is still rather small but it's growing. I should have some more items coming that I can post in the upcoming days.

I wish Ned would sell some prints of DT art (other than the portfolio) like Michael Whelan does. <_<

I recently bought a first of DTIV. It's in perfect shape and I'm glad I was able to buy it. I've had my eye on it for awhile and didn't think that I'd ever have the opportunity to have a copy, so needless to say I am pleased. :)

I love the ship book holder in your collection picture. You should put a Duma Key up next to that. That's how I picture the ship in that story.

Finally have some new items to post in here. I was kind of off collecting for awhile after buying books and finding that the the seller was mis-describing their condition. I swear, I must've been buying from blind dealers. Anyway, here's some of my new acquisitions:

1st/1st of The Stand: Complete and Uncut:

I had had my eyes on this for awhile, but wanted to wait until I had actually read both books to make sure I wasn't buying something I didn't like. Then read some Straub to see if I liked that as well. Really glad I bought this set (wasn't expecting it to be so big, though!).

Lastly, I have something that I'm pretty excited about coming to me soon. It will no doubt be one of the highlights of my collection. :D

I've also been waiting for a status update on, what I think will be, one of the highlights of my collection. Hints, hints. :D

Update time!

I haven't gotten a ton of SK stuff recently (got a little tired of not being able to trust sellers' grading), but do have some cool things to share.

First up, I went to a Late Night with Jimmy Fallon taping back in June for my birthday. I watch the show all the time and know that at the end of every show, Jimmy runs up and down the audience aisles high-fiving and shaking hands with the audience members that are lucky enough to sit on the ends of the rows. So with this in mind, I brought a couple sharpies with me and bought a copy of his book, Thank You Notes 2 at the NBC store at 30 Rock just in case I had the opportunity to have it signed.

So we go up steps, through the multi-levels of security, more steps, hallways, and, finally, make it to the audience entry door for the show. One of the pages start seating members and of course I'm looking ahead to see if I'll get an end seat and the possibility of meeting Jimmy. After awhile, it's our turn to be seated and was suprised (and excited!) to get an end seat!

The show was a ton of fun. A very high energy, high excitement environment (guests were Courteney Cox and Anthony Mackie with musical guest Kenny Chesney). Jimmy, Higgins, and the Roots are a ton of fun to see/hear in person.

After Kenny's performance at the end of the show, Jimmy starts for the audience, so I get my book and Sharpie ready and in a second, Jimmy's next to me and I ask him to sign my book. He signs it, shakes my hand and continues through the audience. It was a quick meeting, but very, very cool. Oh yeah, and the book's a first edition, too.

Next up, Justin Cronin. I went to his signing on October 20th at the Free Library in Philly and it was a blast. I missed him on his Passage tour when he came to MD 2 years ago, so jumped on the chance to meet him in person this time. The event was joint with RL Stine (promoting his first adult fiction novel, Red Rain) so that was an added bonus. Both authors did a 20 minute reading and Q&A in the auditorium, then we all moved upstairs to the lobby for the signing. I got 2 copies of The Twelve signed as well as 1 copy of Red Rain. Chatted with Justin and RL for a minute or two, took some pictures, and that was that! A very enjoyable, well-run event. I can't wait until 2014 and The City of Mirrors (which, Justin told me was not the confirmed title) to hopefully do it all over again.

Also met up with becca69 and her family. They're awful, awful people. :P

Now for something pretty cool. My school sponsors a Speaker Series at a downtown theater (some past speakers have included Mia Farrow, Bill Clinton, Amy Tan). If the speaker agrees, the school usually tries to get them to come to campus for the students before the "big" event. This September's speaker was Bill Bryson and he agreed to come and do a free talk/Q&A before his event that night.

It was a pleasure to hear him speak. Bill’s got a great personality and his blend of scholarly knowledge and humor is fantastic.

Before the event, I thought there might be a chance that I'd be able to get something signed, so I brought along my copy of Shakespeare (we used it in one of my classes last year) and after the event, I was in luck! Turns out some others had the same idea I had. A small group stayed behind to get some books signed and meet Bill. I waited maybe 10 minutes before my turn. I complimented him on the book, shook his hand, and he signed my book. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better, more personalized meet-and-greet/signing experience.

Just goes to show you that being prepared is key. :D

(If anyone's interested in reading my article/event recap, you can do so Here (http://english.suacademics.org/2013/10/04/bill-bryson-invites-readers-to-share-one-remarkable-summer/))

Here's some pics. from the Lemony Snicket signing I went to last month. I can literally count how many Snicket signings I've seen advertised on one hand, so I was thrilled to find one--not only relatively close to me, but really well run as well-- and finally be able to meet him (Daniel Handler, that is. Lemony Snicket couldn't attend. ;) ).

We all sat on the floor in the Children's section of Barnes & Noble, which was fantastic. I genuinely expected more adults to show up.

(They were also giving out free t-shirts to promote the new book's release, but the biggest size they had was a youth Large. That didn't stop me from getting one though!)

Daniel is absolutely hysterical. The "character" that he portrays in his presentations and appearances is so dry and sarcastic and made for a really fun night. We were allowed to get as many copies of the new book signed that we wanted, and one old book. I was contemplating getting my 1st copy of The End signed but ultimately went with the first in the All the Wrong Questions series to have a (so far) matching set.

Did you go to Monster Mania? I saw that they were going to be there. They're having MM35 here in Hunt Valley next month. I'm waiting to see what guests they announce before I make up my mind.

Yep, we go 2x a year - March & August. I haven't made it to the Hunt Valley show yet. I heard that one is more intimate.

I've been there for the Horrfind Weekend convention, but they haven't done that in years. If they have it at the same place, it's a nice venue.

One of the only names they've announced so far is David Arquette. But if they get a bunch more of the Scream cast and make it into a "reunion," I might have to go.

Lol, wow! My buddies and I used to go to the HorrorFind in MD every year. Great memories. Thanks for the heads up on this years Monster Mania. Has it been going on at Hunt Valley every year and I've been missing it?
I'll try and swing by if I'm off of work that weekend. Barbara Steele! Kristy Sawnson!

I'm not sure. I think they've at least done it once or twice in MD, but I've never gone.

Also, I read that Neve Campbell charges $75 for an autograph?!

They do it every year in late September.
