Just because I want to read it anyway, and have heard so many good things about it:

I wish to nominate "Fevre Dream" by George R.R. Martin.

No, you can't, but you can nominate any book she did, or all of them - I think a special concession can be made for you in our Rules for this occasion.

I would rather...

Nevermind! ;)

Suffice it to say reading her name is painful enough. Her writing is one step BELOW Harlequin Romances.

Actually, I think i considered it for last book club as a nomination, before it was decided to stick with what we already had. I second Flowers for Algernon :)

admited, it was 10 years ago (or possibly more) that i tried to read it, but from what i can remember it felt like the mental equivalent of banging my head against a brick wall.

I shall give it another try because bears like it:rose:
and they scare me when they growl at me:scared:

Jean
07-20-2009, 11:21 AM
bears weren't really growling, they were purring in a questioning way

Yes, I think you should try to reread it now! It's one of the best books ever, in bears' opinion http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gifhttp://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gif

I know I haven't been in here much yet, but I'd third The Turn of the Screw.

I also agree that it might be interesting to discuss The Great & Secret Show.

I don't think anyone will vote for it but here you are: Flowers for Argernon by Daniel KeyesNo...don't think so, here. But, say, have you read The Minds of Billy Milligan?

Brice

Just a thought, but how about Under the Dome, as I will have no interest in reading anything else untill I am done with that, and it would be a shame to miss the opportunity to all experience a King book (a good one I expect/hope) together for the first time.

Jean
11-10-2009, 11:42 PM
I think it will be done in Cara Laughs, I am sure Under the Dome will be the Book of the Month as soon as it is out.

Only I have no idea where I could take it... not until I go to France in April, but even then it will be hardback, so I won't be able to buy it... http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/bear_sad.gif

aw sweetie. not too worry i am sure someone will pick up the reins. I would - but due to being computer stupid i would not be the best person for the job.:huglove:

**sits and waits patiently for someone to come along**

Jean

computer skills don't have anything to do with it. I'll make all the polls for you, or anything else you might need.

Heather19
12-14-2009, 02:16 PM
Can we just set up a poll to pick the next book?
I'd offer to take over, but honestly I'll only be participating if it's a book that interests me. Could we just have the person that nominated the book take over the discussion if their book wins?

Jean
12-15-2009, 12:32 AM
A very good suggestion, to my mind. I hope it will be considered by

our new President -
