I liked the discussion on the integration for the forums so I am establishing a thread to consider things I am thinking about putting on the site.

These modifications are simply designed to make the experience better.

Here is the next idea:

Auto Birthday thread


This hack automatically creates a birthday thread in the forum you select. Only members that allow their date of birth to be displayed will be listed, and age will be shown only for those who has choosen that. Members are shown in colors defined in usergroup settings. You can choose to exclude inactive members. Several users can be set as greeters (used randomly when posting). Thread will be created first time when someone loads forumhome after midnight (by server time).

Obviously, we could merge these with the overall birthday thread after a day. Personally I think people like to have their own.

I like the idea of people having their own thread and then they will be merged. The only problem with an automatic thread creation is that it takes the fun out of being the first person to create a thread for someone.

That is a neat feature, but like Hannah, I like the idea of starting a thread for people myself.

That's cool with me, I just know if it is someone people don't know, a new member perhaps, people feel awkward starting it for someone.

At least that is what I have heard. Mostly, I just wanted them started in a timely manner and the computer loves everyone. :lol:

I don't know, I think we're pretty good about keeping on top of it. I agree it cuts down on the spontaneity of the birthday thread. As the site grows, however, I think it's something we may want to consider in the future. :D

This would be totally commercial free as far as I know.

I think I am going to do this, I read the mod completely and it seems to be stable and will be ugraded with the forums software. :rock:
