This is a tough one. And strangely, my nomination isn't even in the running for my vote anymore.
It comes down to Talisman, Black House, And Dark Tower #2

DT#3 - was surprised to see i'm the only vote so far.
I don't think any death in any Book ever hit me as hard as Jake's.

I still haven't been able to decide...my mind keeps going back and forth between Black House and Dark Tower #2...argh...I may not vote, if this keeps up. I'm split. :pullhair:

I think this is one of those rare moments when both are perfectly equal to me.

had to be dk 2

when looking at the others only callahans had a 'meaningul death' if that doesnt sound to macabre - jakes death in our world? hmmm he had two so it depends (his original and his last) wolfs hit me hard but it seemed to pointless, so had to go with callahan -and so ends candys sermon on her reason for voting

needful things all the way

Nettie and Wilma going after eachother with a meatcleavers and knive is one of the most brutally epic battles in literary history

i thought so too, that's why i nominated it. but after reading talisman and blackhouse, that scene seems so much more trivial and pointless.

Ooo, see, the very trivial nature of the scene underscores the true freakishness of what has happened. It may seem minor in comparison to some of Jack's adventures, for example, but the scene itself - the battle between two housewives - is illustrative of the split that has opened in the fabric of Castle Rock.

Plus, it's a fight with meat cleavers and knives, which is extremely personal. You can't stab somebody from a block away.

After thinking nearly nonstop about this, I finally decided with Black House.

It was a very close battle between it and Dark Tower #2.

In the end, it was the last bit of the Black House nomination that got me. I'd explain, but I'm in no state to add spoiler tags...it's quite enough for me to type and think coherently. :beat:

I should have known! *wolfhug* Johnny was tremendous to have the courage to act on that. I enjoyed the twist on "would you kill someone you knew for a fact was evil and would do awful things but who had not done those things yet" philosophical question.

yes, but even more important about all that was - to me - that he didn't even kill him. After all, he couldn't. He did what was his ultimate duty without actually killing anybody. It's one of my favorite parts of all King - beaten only by Faddah's death.

Oh yes, I thought I mentioned that part. I was very glad for him because he had been so torn over the decision in the first place. Johnny's trip to Stillson's rally is touching and poignant. Poor Johnny. I also love Pere's death, but it was Johnny's that first came to mind when I thought of the category, and it was Johnny's death that crept into my mind every time I came into this thread again. I find that I feel *good* for the Pere when he dies because he has achieved the salvation he so dearly desired and deserved.
