Should we give one of ours that we think should win or are you going to make a poll of certain ones?

Gotta go with It. It's the only book to ever really truly frighten me.

Should we abstain if we haven't read all of those?

I voted "It". The reason I voted so is that within all the available choices, "It" was the one that scared me the most. I can even remember the first time I finished the story. For nearly a week afterward, I could vividly picture the scene in the library when Pennywise smiles, showing razor-blade teeth, then chomps down. *shudders*

That's a question for Aaron, the mastermind. Arguments could be made either way, I think.

I voted for It.

J&Y, had I not read them all I would pick the most frightening of the ones I have read, but Pablo is right, there are arguments to be made either way.

After careful consideration between IT and Pet Sematary, I had to choose the latter...for some reason, it really did just scare the crap out of me...That reason being Zelda...shudder.

all very good scary choices, but I had to go with The Shining. The moving creeping topiary was enough to send me into the corner and then I had to put the book in the freezer. *shiver*

I'm with you maer, The Shining all the way.

Super tough choice.

1408 What a great "bad place" story.
Desperation Crazy cops locking up innocent people - and that's just the start!
Gerald's Game It's way too easy to imagine that situation. Way too easy.
It Ah, the book that made me want to see The Crawling Eye and gave us Pennywise.
Pet Sematary I stayed up all night finishing this one. Killer two year olds are terrifying indeed.
'Salem's Lot The crawlspace and the school bus.
The Boogeyman If I got a running start down the hall, I could jump onto my bed from the doorway and avoid the boogeyman.
The Mist Oh yeah! Freaking Lovecraftian horrors.
The Shining Excellent haunting story; excellent story of a man going crazy; excellent story of an exceptional child.
The Stand Post apocalypse.

But which one scared me most of all? *ponders deeply*

Should we abstain if we haven't read all of those?

Go ahead and vote, based on your opinion of those that you have read. With the large quantity of competitors in these polls, it wouldnt make sense to exclude someone if they havent read every title, as chances are they havent read at least one.

Do I vote for the one that scared me most as a read or the one that scares me because it is a terrifyingly real possibility? :panic:

I'd define "most frightening" as one that scared the shit out of you as you read it, causing you to whimper and walk up the stairs with all the lights on :)

Excellent! - and 'It' is well deserving of that close runner-up position.
