I am curious What version of "The Stand" do I have ?

The thing is, I don't know. I found it in a used bookstore in hardcover without a jacket. Was it revised? I dunno. I could use some help with the detective work.

Here is what I do know:

1. It's hardcover
2. It's by Doubleday
3. No Author's note
4. 823 pages
5. 68 chapters
6. Copyright date is 1978

So What version of "The Stand" do I have ? Is there any tell-tale signs/revisions I should look for?

And here's the main reason for my posting. It was a slow read for me. It was laborious for me to read. I know, "blasphemy" right? The next question to follow is, would I like the other version better? How is its readability? Or would I just rather make out with the trashcan man?

You have the original, unrevised edition. It's a great story and well worth reading the Uncut edition, if you can get a copy of one...it's only a few hundred pages longer.

The story moves along very fast and the characters kick ass!

Cool! I definitely will. I suppose now that I am familiar with the main characters the omissions will be cooler. I hope my opinion of THe Stand changes. I want to like it more.

Thanks! They can send this one to the clearing!
