This one gets straight A's people. One of King's best.

Agreed. Straight A's for me too. This was my first King book and it scared the bejesus out of me. Really good story!

Triple As here as well. One of the absolute classics of contemporary American literature.

I've never read it, sorry to say. What a terrible original cover.

Terrible? I love it.

I've got to agree with her on that. It's a pretty awful cover. Jack Torrance looks like Warren Beatty.

AAB. Pretty great, but I only vaguely remember the ending, and I don't believe I cared for it that much.
And I don't like that cover.

The cover's vintage. I like that '70s look, personally.

I understand vintage, but I don't understand the placement of anything on there.

Pretty good Book overall, but not my favourite King in any sense.

Agree with spun about that cover. It's ridiculous.

Which definition of vintage do you mean?

- Characterized by excellence, maturity, and enduring appeal; classic.

- Old or outmoded.

I know which one I think it is. :P

As odd as the Warren Beatty as Jack Torrance pic is, it's Danny I am still trying to figure out. I get the weird looking eyes as I suppose that's supposed be him using his shine, but what is the deal with what he's wearing? I find it confusing. I've never seen a shirt like that, not on a boy anyway.

Can we vote for cheesiest cover ever because this one might be the champion?

The hedge lion brings extra points. Man, everything is so wrong on it. It cracks me up.

I also like the minaret on top of the highest tower of the hotel. It reminds me of a building at the University of Tampa here in my town.

I love them all, but this one's my favorite. I've probably read it a dozen times, and it thrills and delights me every time.

I think I was just so disturbed by the eyes, that I never even paid attention to that, but I agree, it's very strange. I think the cover could have been good, but they just failed in the execution of it.

As for the book, I gave it straight A's again. Not my absolute favorite, but I didn't feel I could give it anything less.

All A's, as to the cover, what is that cow trying to do to the lion in the lower left corner. Hmmmmmm......
