I love this book so much I would date it. It holds such a sentimental place in my heart. I had to buy a second (hardcover) copy because I wore the first to tatters. I wonder how many people, like me, began a love affair with vampire lore because of 'Salem's Lot.

Ditto. I liked it a lot too, however I had read a lot of King before finally reading this one, and I was left with the impression that some of those books impressed me a lot more.

Maybe I need to read this one again and see if my impression changes.

On first read, I would have given the ending a B, because the whole going to Thunderclap thing just confused me and left me feeling robbed of true resolution. However, Wolves of Calla got that straightened out for me, and I love the ending now.
