Should I explain anything? I don't think so but let me see..
We pop a question about our favourite writer and the one who can first give the right answer they can ask the next question.

How many daughters or sons has King got?

Daghain
08-04-2007, 12:20 PM
King has two sons and one daughter.

Letti
08-04-2007, 12:30 PM
If that's true (*tries to find the information she is so crazy she asked a question she is not sure about the answer and now is bumping her head to the wall*) your turn dear Daghain. :D

Daghain
08-04-2007, 12:31 PM
LOL I think I'm right. Owen, Joe, and Naomi. :)

Letti
08-04-2007, 12:32 PM
Right. I am waiting for the next question eagerly. :D

Daghain
08-04-2007, 12:34 PM
Okay, let's see.

What college did Stephen King graduate from?

Letti
08-04-2007, 12:41 PM
the University of Maine?

Daghain
08-04-2007, 12:44 PM
You are correct! He got his degree at the University of Maine at Orono.

Back to you!

Letti
08-04-2007, 12:48 PM
Easy one.

What's his wife's name?

ZoNeSeeK
08-05-2007, 03:35 PM
Tabitha

Mordred Deschain
08-05-2007, 05:17 PM
just posting so I get the thread....waiting for a question

ZoNeSeeK
08-05-2007, 07:02 PM
Im 100% thats right so i'll proceed:

Where did he and Tabitha meet (and what were they doing)?

(Edited)

Daghain
08-05-2007, 07:18 PM
At the University of Maine, Orono. :D

ZoNeSeeK
08-05-2007, 07:46 PM
Yes thats correct but i was after more information :)

Daghain
08-05-2007, 08:38 PM
Picky, picky. :)

He met his wife, formerly Tabitha Spruce, at the University library, where they both worked. :D

ZoNeSeeK
08-05-2007, 09:06 PM
:) you're up

Daghain
08-05-2007, 09:10 PM
What was Stephen's father's name?

ZoNeSeeK
08-05-2007, 09:16 PM
Donald

Daghain
08-05-2007, 09:36 PM
Feather is in your court, Zone. :)

ZoNeSeeK
08-06-2007, 06:32 PM
Which baseball team does King barrack for?

Daghain
08-06-2007, 09:15 PM
BoSox, baby. BoSox.

ZoNeSeeK
08-06-2007, 11:08 PM

Daghain

ZoNeSeeK
08-07-2007, 03:25 PM
Who's sox?

Daghain
08-07-2007, 05:25 PM
Oh FFS, do you accept it as a correct answer or not?

ZoNeSeeK
08-07-2007, 08:16 PM
Oh yes, of course its correct. :)

Daghain
08-07-2007, 09:39 PM
Gracias, amigo. :D

Next question:

Which short story did Stephen King swear he would never again release to the public and why?

Work for it, kids.

Brice
08-07-2007, 09:57 PM
Umm...the only one that comes to mind isn't a short story. Rage was allowed to go out of print and stay that way due to school shootings. If that's not it I don't even have a guess.

Daghain
08-07-2007, 10:04 PM
You got it, my man. Stephen King retired Rage because of the Columbine Shootings. I live in Colorado and we all kind of went, "yeah, that'll help." WTF???

Oh well, if he feels better, I guess.

I guess you could call it a novella rather than a short story, but yeah, you got it!

Brice
08-07-2007, 10:11 PM
Aside from Peter Straub who has coauthored a fiction book with King?

ZoNeSeeK
08-08-2007, 12:59 AM
Stewart O'Nan, for Faithfull, a book about botox.

Aaron
08-08-2007, 10:59 AM
But Faithful was non-fiction. As far as I know, King hasn't collaborated on any fiction projects with anyone aside from Straub. Unless you'd count Bachman with the whole Desperation/Regulators deal.

Brice
08-08-2007, 03:26 PM

A clue then:

Unless you'd count his childhood writing also.

ZoNeSeeK

*slaps brice*

Mandy, from 5th grade?

:P

Daghain
08-08-2007, 05:17 PM
His brother. :)

Brice

:P

:o :o :o
You got it!!!

yeah right! :P

Brice
08-10-2007, 04:29 AM
His brother. :)

Well, while he did collaborate with his brother somewhat for Dave's Rag (which was a magazine Dave published and printed himself devoted to local events) the answer I was looking for was King's childhood friend Chris Chesley with whom he collaborated for a collection of short stories called People, Places, and Things.

While you're answer wasn't the one I was looking for King did collaborate with him some so that makes you closest to right and it is rightly your turn. :)

Daghain
08-10-2007, 07:21 AM
Well, I never would have gotten the right one! :D

Why did King never join the military?

MonteGss
08-10-2007, 03:40 PM
His poor eyesight?

Daghain
08-10-2007, 03:45 PM
3 more and you got it. There are 4 reasons.
:)

Darkthoughts
08-11-2007, 06:03 AM
The other three are:
high blood pressure
flat feet
punctured eardrums.

Brice
08-11-2007, 06:10 AM
Damn, he's got damn near every excuse don't he.?

Daghain
08-11-2007, 07:11 AM
Darkthoughts got it! ;)

Darkthoughts
08-11-2007, 07:14 AM
Coolio! Ok, heres my q:

What was King's nickname for his editor at Scribner?

Darkthoughts
08-13-2007, 11:43 AM
Did I kill the game? Want a clue...the answer can be found in the intro to one of the stories in Everything's Eventual...

Letti
08-13-2007, 11:36 PM
You didn't. :D I am just slow like hell.

Matt
08-14-2007, 06:04 AM
I love this thread!

I don't have an answer but as soon as I have a minute, I am going to google it.

Letti
08-14-2007, 11:00 AM
I am working on it... yeah...

Daghain
08-14-2007, 11:04 AM
I think it's Google-proof. And my book is at home. :(

Letti
08-14-2007, 11:10 AM
If it's Google-proof I am helpless.

Daghain
08-14-2007, 11:12 AM
I won't be home for 3-4 hours, but if no one gets it I'll try to remember to look it up. :)

Letti
08-14-2007, 11:25 AM
Be ready. ;)

AGENT MOLDOW!!

what do stephen king and his brother call it when they have to go to the bathroom?

hint. on writing.

Darkthoughts
08-14-2007, 12:24 PM
Woo Hoo!!

Letti
08-14-2007, 01:28 PM

Letti

ZoNeSeeK
08-20-2007, 04:16 PM

Darkthoughts
08-21-2007, 04:29 AM
Don't have On Writing either :(

sarah
08-21-2007, 06:45 AM
oh you two have got to read it. The first half of the book is an autobiography. It is a MUST read.

Daghain
08-21-2007, 06:58 AM
I thought I had it, but I don't.

*skips off to Amazon*

ZoNeSeeK
08-21-2007, 07:00 PM
Ooh ok, sounds good. I like the way king writes his nonfiction stuff

Letti
08-28-2007, 01:04 AM
I think we need a new rule here.
If nobody can find out the right answer to the question during 7 days the one who asked it can give the answer to their own question and they can ask a new one.
What do you think?

Daghain
08-28-2007, 07:51 AM
Sounds good to me. :)

tamez
08-28-2007, 12:43 PM
I think it's a good idea Letti

sarah
08-28-2007, 02:55 PM
I like that rule. Ok the answer is Push

Now onto another question:

What does Stephen King do to celebrate Halloween?

Brice
08-28-2007, 03:54 PM
Offer up praise to Elder Gods by dancing naked on his front lawn inside a flaming pentagram drenched in the blood of innocents?

sarah
08-28-2007, 04:49 PM

um, no.

Letti
08-28-2007, 11:50 PM
Offer up praise to Elder Gods by dancing naked on his front lawn inside a flaming pentagram drenched in the blood of innocents?

It sounds asbolutely all right to me but sadly it wasn't my question.

I am happy to see the new question, mearlyn, thank you for it - I will try me best to find the answer.

Brice
08-29-2007, 03:36 AM
Yes, he does. He's just trying to keep it quiet.

Darkthoughts
08-29-2007, 04:47 AM

when the EMT's arrived, and were loading him in the ambulance, they asked him which hospital he would prefer. He chose North Cumberland and gave his reason. After arrival, he was airlifted out.

Hmmm... I'll make these tough. ;)

1. Old MacDonald had a camera.
2. What do Julia Shumway and the New York Tribune have in common?
3. What you get after purchasing a lot of sweet treats.
4. No Talisman here, but there is a tail of aliens?
5. Guess the "theme" that ties all of these together.

Can we offer prizes for the person who guesses correctly, or is submitting the next trivia incentive enough??

Well, the next trivia has generally been the prize, but if you'd like to offer some additional incentive it's not a problem. :)

Shannon
06-18-2012, 12:15 AM
I have no idea what you are saying. These are trivia questions? lol Ummm, ok ... I don't know what I'm guessing so I'll just post thoughts, lol

1. Old MacDonald had a camera. - Macdonald, something to do with the publisher?
2. What do Julie Shumway and the New York Tribune have in common? - Well there's a JULIA Shumway in Under The Dome. I thought the answer would be "They're both Under The Dome" if the New York Tribune building had a dome on it, but a quick Google search showed me that it didn't.
3. What you get after purchasing a lot of sweet treats. - Sick? This should be something King-y, right? Ummm ... wait PURCHASE a lot of sweet treats ... Hmmm, broke?
4. No Talisman here, but there is a tail of aliens? - I have no idea what this means, lol
5. Guess the "theme" that ties all of these together. - I give up, lol, HELP!

stkmw02
06-18-2012, 07:45 AM
lol Sorry! I meant to post the hints when I got home from work, but I lost track of the thread. Very valiant effort, Shannon!!
Good lead with #1, thanks for pointing out my error in #2 and yes Under the Dome is the right place to look and further research (after a hint) might help, for #3 a King-y answer is needed and you're on the right track with your guesses!

Thank, Brice! I think I'll offer the winner's choice of either a personalized King related artwork drawn by myself, or a new melon photo.

FIRST HINTS:

1. Old MacDonald was a dedicated farmer.
2. The Dome had no foundation but the Tribune did.
3. If you don't pay this, you'll have to deal with the men in the black suits.
4. Sometimes King is only half the story...
5. There is no error in the original #4 statement.

Brice
06-18-2012, 07:56 AM
4.Black House

stkmw02
06-18-2012, 08:43 AM
Sorry, Brice. But... what do Black House and Talisman have in common? (The tail of aliens will let you know which book the answer to #4 is in.)

Shannon
06-18-2012, 08:51 AM
I still have no idea, lol.

stkmw02
06-18-2012, 09:06 AM
Well... for number one... follow your line of thinking with "publisher" only... um... MacDonald isn't the publisher? So replace publisher with... uh... some other (perhaps italicized) word? Which will help you locate a title, which is the answer to #1.

Shannon
06-18-2012, 09:52 AM
1. John D. MacDonald
2. Horace Greeley
3. ?
4. ?
5. All real people?

stkmw02

If you'd like, you can PM the answer to #2 so I can confirm it for you... because if you did figure it out, it might help you with the rest. ;)

Shannon
06-18-2012, 10:02 AM
I edited my post because I figured out #1 as well.

stkmw02
06-18-2012, 10:10 AM
For 1, you have the name but need the title that was dedicated... For 2 you have too much for the answer. And #5 is incorrect.

I know it must be frustrating... I make very difficult things like this for my students in the high school library. As much as they "hate" it, they always ask me to make up more.
