This story is one of my favorite films made into a book. Check out Seven Samurai if you've never seen it. I want so bad to give this a 5, but I really hate the Mia story. This is where it started (really, it is) and for that reason alone, I'm taking it down a notch. 4.

I loved this one. I love the tie-in to Salem's Lot. I love the idea of small town politics. Hated the Mia angle. Still, a 5.

A great read and big turning point in the series. Probably the best action/gunslingin' there is. Loved it.

5. The ties to Salem's Lot were so enjoyable as that was one of my favorite books of all time. I liked the characters in this book, and I want this one to be the book in this bracket to move on.

Father Callahan , Son of a bitch, the roont children, the gunslinging ...5 baby!
I tend to dismiss any parts that annoyed me, and really it was that robot for me.:borg:

5 Of course the events of VI set up the "4's for SOS and DTVII to a large degree IMHO:idea:

I would give this a five for the Pere's story alone. Agree about the Mia angle sucking ass.* Not enough to drop it down to a four. Five!

*Actually anything related to Susannah is a pain for me to read.

I rate it as a 3.5 and rounded up to a 4 for the poll. On the whole, it was a very natural progression of the storyline. However, Mia seemed (and still seems) to be an unneeded character. Note: Mordred's storyline didn't bother me at this point. Just Mia. Likewise, Callahan's tale would have worked better in one of King's short story collections, or maybe even as novel. I liked the manni, todash space, the vagrant dead, Oriza, all of it. Again, more great worldbuilding on Sai King's part, and it all felt very natural and not at all forced.

Giving this one a 3. Callahan's story saved it from a 2.

5, this one reminded me a lot of Wizard & Glass, only in the fact that it was pretty much a stand alone story. And I thought it worked well this way.

solid 4....Mia storyline slowed things down, Callahan's role stoked interest....I love how the book read exactly like Roland had predicted the outcome with the wolves, weeks of planning and in 5 minutes it was all over....it took me a while to get into this book and then I couldn't put it down for the last 250 pages, wish there was a 4.5 button....
