Another one I give a 1. That will be a recurring theme for me with some of the more recent King.

The book itself was boring. The only thing it was good for was when a few years ago my wife, myself and one of our friends were lost in the woods for several hours. We made some references to the book which we had all read. Other than that, it was a waste of my time.

Wow, surprised by the early negative voting! I'm giving this one a 5. Fascinating quick read. I thought it was great.

I was thinking about a 5, too... if I have the time for at least a quick re-read, I might reconsider my vote.

What I really liked about it is that it was so realistic and plausible. And King is very good at writing real. (And he'd great about writing unreal, too :))

I'm surprised too, but this book really is a very focused story. I think it easily could have, and maybe SHOULD have been put in an anthology instead of being a single release. Even so, this story scared the living hell out of me. It had my heart pounding and I had to read it through from start to finish. It caused such a strong reaction from me that I have never read it since even though I loved it. My only explanation for such a reaction is that it struck a strong, deep seated chord from my childhood. Though I don't conciously remember it, I know that I was lost in the woods once long enough for search teams and the local TV news to become involved in a search for me. I also know they never found me. I followed one of our dogs home and arrived late in the evening near dark. So I identify with this story on a very primal level.

Gotta give it a 5.

I wish they'd make this into a movie. Somebody smart could make a really scary film out of it.

I gave it a three. It was one of the first King books I ever read, second one if I am not mistakened. I remember it was a pretty interesting read, but it was to short and I felt it was a bit lacking for a Stephen King novel. It was a good read, so I give it a 3.

I gave a 4...was stuck between a 4 or a 5 though. I loved this story, really intense and I loved the main character.

Wow, I'm surprised at how many folken haven't read this one. It's not bad.

I wish they'd make this into a movie. Somebody smart could make a really scary film out of it.Hmm... probably get shortchanged, but somebody could I guess... psychological suspense scary, that is.
The actual horror is only in the abstract; the kind of stuff filmmakers tend to leave out altogether.

A little girl gets lost in the woods. Creepy stuff. Read it, it's short. King can't write anything bad :)

After getting lost in the woods, the girl tries to keep her sanity by listening to baseball game featuring her favorite player, Tom Gordon. She begins to hallucinate after awhile do to fatigue, fear, malnutrition etc. She has several supernatural experiences in the woods. I think what makes the book interesting is that King purposely makes it unclear whether or not these supernatural events are real or hallucinations. It kind of walks the line between imagination and reality. Its not a bad book. It is short at any rate, and thus wont be a big waste of time either way.

now that grabs my attention a bit..i do love king and the supernatural lol
