My one and only complaint about this book is not even with King's work. Though I love ned Dameron's art work in most of the book, I wish he'd gotten Jake's hair coloring correct. The picture of Jake beholding the Rose is stunning except for his not being pictured as blonde.

That was actually my only issue with the book, as well. I like a lot of Dameron's work, but I still cannot believe that he fucked up the hair. And that no one at Grant said anything to him about it.

I'll third the hair thing, but I still gave it a 5. :)

Ooph, I think I'll get some flak for this but I gave this a 3. It was just average in a lot of ways for me. It has some great, great moments, but those were far apart. It was somewhat laborious to read, whereas I devoured DT2 in just a few days - lightning-fast for me. Perhaps it was just the high from that volume that didn't really transfer to DT3, I dunno. So, just average here...

Well, the pacing of the story was totally different in book 3--that probably had a lot to do with it. The only other book in the series that can really match the pace of DT 2 is Song of Susannah.

I gave this one a "good". My rankings for the DT books are only going to be a 5, 4 or 3 and this one rates a 4 for sure.

Gave it a 5 for Jake's essay alone! :D LOVED it!

The Waste Lands is my favorite DT (at least on my last re-read), so definitely a 5.

I absolutely LOVED this story. I loved the pacing of it, and had to stay up all night reading it once I got near the end. I probably read the last third of it in one night. It's been a LONG time since I read it (got it for Christmas in 1991 and read it that week before I went back to school). A definite 5!!

This is my favorite of the seven. There is so much plot in this book, it's insane.

Mainly because of the awesomeness that is the Tick Tock Man. But there were plenty of other cool things too!

I toyed with the possibility of giving this a 4, but just couldn't do it.
It's a 5.

5.

I found Jake's story fascinating. And it heralded the "Fuck Greta Shaw" campaign - and what's not to love about that? :innocent:

Ooh somebody else gave this one a three. Step forth, brother, it's okay :)

I dunno, something just didn't work with this one, but it's not the lowest DT book for me (that's reserved for the follow-up).
