I have a feeling this will be the winner in this bracket. Not going out on a limb here, either :) One of my favorites of all of King's books.

I loved this book...it was among the first of King's books I read, and it enthralled me completely.

To each his own and all...
but, really!
A 'didn't like it' vote for this book?
I'm flabbergasted!

One of the great King novels. Of course, I loved it.

i voted "it was good". i think i'm a little confused on this voting thing. can we vote "i loved it" for more than one book in a category?

Yes, absolutely. Take it one poll at a time. You're voting on each book individually. They're just broken down into these brackets to help with the initial seeding and then the analyzing of the voting.

This was my first King book. I thought it was good enough to make me a King fan, but after rereading it several times, I'm sticking with my current assessment.

Oh man, alot of people love it. I read it a few months ago and also love it. Maybe even in the top 10.

Gave it a 4.
If we didn't have The Lot in this same bracket it might have been a 5 - but for me Salems Lot should win this section!

I gave it a 4 also. There's nothing in this bracket that's merited a 5 for me though.

Remember, folks, you're rating each book on its own merit. Don't judge it right now against any other book.

Had to go with I loved it for this one. It'd probably fall within my top 10 King books easily.

Ditto here. I haven't given a 4 to the Shining on this ground, though, but really because even though it was one of the few books that really frightened me at some point, it was still not amazingly well written. I liked it a lot, though.

I found this book to be just so-so. It surprised me that I did not like it more.

Another 4 on this one, I give you a hint the books I'm going to give a 5 aren't up yet! ;)

mae

alinda, you're giving each of these books a ranking based on only their own merit, not how they stack up against any other one. That will come later.

That's true, pablo, but I think she was just saying that the books that she "loves" havent been listed yet. I have given few 5s also, because most of the ones that I loved come later in the voting.

mae

Oh I see. Sorry, alinda. I too have rated a few of the ones already up as 5, and there are plenty more coming up later that I know I'll rate that high.

Am I the only one thinking there are some awesome books in the first ones King has written ? I gave quite a few 5s already ! I'll be less generous later, though.

I agree, but there will be some absolute classics later on as well.

I read the Shining in one long reading while in college. Finished it about 4am on Sunday morning and had a hard time getting to sleep! I loved this story. Def in my top ten of all SK!
