Seems this is one of the lesser-read books. So far most have voted as having never read it.

I gave it a 4, I enjoyed this story alot and I'm not generally over awed with the Bachman stories.

It's out of print--I don't know when that happened, but obviously too soon for me to have read it....

I don't know if The Bachman Books omnibus is very hard to come by on eBay or Amazon Marketplace? I've had my hardcover copy for a long while, so I haven't ever checked on that.

I haven't found it at amazon.com....

And apparently it's not even available in America anymore, and the current British version doesn't have Rage....

It was taken out of print after the Columbine shootings. King said that it would never be put in print again.

mae

I think it actually was taken out of print around 1999.

I think it actually was taken out of print around 1999.

According to wikipedia, the clincher was Michael Carneal, which was December 1st, 1997.

So you're probably right.

I gave this one an average. It's fairly obvious that it's an EARLY King work.

It's definitely worth a read. It's a pretty good psychological story.

You can't, it's out of print. You need to get a second-hand copy of The Bachman Books. Check those links I gave a few posts up in this thread.

Hey William. Hope you get a good copy of The Bachman Books. It's a great tome.

Yes, that is accurate regarding King allowing/wanting Rage to go out of print shortly after the Carneal shooting.

I gave this a 3. It was pretty good, but I'm consious that I'll be hitting a lot of 4's & 5's in any SK category, so for me a 3 is fair on this one.

I voted "1", and if there were negative numbers, I would have gladly given a very big one

I thought it was a great read. I gave it a 5. My daughter (age 11) is doing an oral presentation on the book at school. She enjoyed it also.

I still do not lose hope to post in Rage thread we have in Cara Laughs - I have a lot to say and wouldn't like to clutter this thread with bearish invectives http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/0134-bear.gif

I'm interested in your opinion also.

As am I. I've always loved this story.

Actually, I am very much against doubling discussion lines. I can say here that I voted "1" because I found this story false, pointless and artificial through and through; but I still would like to expand on it later in the appropriate thread, when I finally have a clear head a some free time. There's no hurry, though, that's the beauty of it all... we're all here to stay, and we're going to live long and happy lives together...

I gave it a 3. Of the 3 "Bachman Books" I've read so far, it ranks 3rd to The Long Walk (1st) and Roadwork (2nd).

I liked the story, but it didn't (pardon the pun) blow me away.

One of the VERY FEW books by King that I have never read. Seems like I have some company.

Add me to the never read list. It's been one of those that I've wanted to read for a long time, just never seem to get around to it. I think I actually started it once, but only got a few pages in before I got sidetracked with something else.

Good hardcover copies of the original Bachman Books are still rather easy to find on places like Amazon Marketplace, and for very reasonable prices.

BookFinder (http://www.bookfinder.com/search/?ac=sl&st=sl&qi=GOBM0ZL,.mbLT345SczTSBvR3PI_4998349126_1:60:492&bq=author%3Dstephen%2520king%26title%3Dbachman%252 0books) (quick, there's a NEW copy for only $18.95!)

Funny that it's the book that has the most "Never read". It's not so hard to find, though !

It is. If not for Lady Linda http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k291/mishemplushem/Facilitation/bear_wub.gif, I don't know where I would get Bachman Books.

But you live in Russia and you said amazon didn't work over there. It does in the US, though, so people should be able to find it and read it, then they could vote according to what they thought about the book.

mae

But Amazon does ship internationally. Used books, that's up to the individual seller, but most do.

I gave a link to BookFinder yesterday, there was a listing for a new copy of the 1985 hardcover for just $18.95.

I read this back in the earlier '90's while it was still in print. I remember liking it, but that's about it, so I gave it a 3.

I first read this in elementary or jr. high school. It has always been a favorite of mine for some reason. I gave it a five.
