Is it ACTUALLY true or not, that King WOULD have bought the van that hitted him, for destroying it???

I understood that he did indeed by the van but mostly because he didn't want it to become some kind of macabre collectors item.

I think he did buy the Van. from what i heard he took it to a junk yard, beat it with a baseball bat, then crushed it, because he was unable to do anything else to it.

that's true... someone would have bought it like 'this is the van that almost killed Stephen King'.... that's really creepy. i would have bought the damn thing too to prevent something like that.

One of the first things King did while in the hospital was to send his lawyer out to purchase the Dodge van that had hit him. He joked that he bought it so he could smash it with a sledgehammer once he recovered enough. Later that year, in an interview on NPR, he stated that he had bought the van and had it crushed so that it wouldn't show up on Ebay one day, billed as the "Stephen King Death Car."

The conditions surrounding the demise of the guy that struck Steve are as interesting/ bizarre as the other aspects of the story. http://lisnews.org/node/1510 King's B-day no less ;> The accident was much worse than people realized, and the subsequent bout of pneumonia was very bad too, he's lucky to still be sucking wind. -It was strange to see him go from 'gormy' to gaunt during that time.

There is loads of ammo for a "conspiracy theory" in there. I always thought there were too many coincidences.

King was pretty well banged up at the accident. At least he had Oy to keep him company during his recovery...
