View Full Version : Random Lines from DT (only DT) - new game

Letti

So, you can pick any sentence/sentences from the Dark Tower series. One sentence is the minimum. The game will be much more enjoyable if we try to give sentences with some real meaning. If someone chooses the line: "he said" - it won't give us much fun. :)
So one gives a random line or random lines from the series and the others must find out from which book it is/they are from.
BUT
you can guess only 3 times (all together) - I mean for one quote only 3 guesses can be given: from one person or from 3. If the third guess is wrong the one who gave the line can give a new one. (It would be way too easy if we could guess as many times as we want.)

So
you give a line (or more)
and the others have only 3 shots to find out where it is from.

First one:

"Roland, who held this secret in his own counsel until it seemed more complex than it really was, was surprised at how quickly and simply it was told. And Eddie, he saw, wasn't completely surprised."

What he remembered was only a series of images, moments, conversation without context;images flashing past like one-eyed jacks and treys and nines and Bloody Black Bitch Queen of Spiders in a card-sharp's rapid shuffle.

may i interject a question? well, i'm going to so here it is :P

when you say "three guesses all together" in the first post do you mean that the person guessing gets to give their guesses all in a row or only three total guesses per person?

thanks!

:rose:

p.s. i like this game!

alinda

Your turn, turtle. :rose: (I was so damn sure it was from the Gunslinger.)

So... for one quote only 3 guesses can be given (they can be from one person or from three). Not in a row... you guess one and another one and one more.
I hope it's clearer now. *unsure*

The Lady of Shadows

clear as a bell my hungarian princess. in fact, i think we should have a poll to see if that should be your new member title. although i like inkslinger. what? i'm off topic? oh, sorry.

There are ghosts. Sometimes there are ghosts, and sometimes they come back.

Is that line from Wizard and Glass, turtlesong?

(Hungarian Princess would be a perfectly-suited member title for Letti, btw...)

alinda
10-22-2008, 09:27 AM
good guess that...lots of past ghost stories in that one .

:fairy:btw, I agree Hungarian Princess in nice , but another could be Queen of our hearts!

Well done, Daghain. We are waiting for the new one eagerly. (Happy to see you like this game.)

/My dearest ladies, I think I stay Inkslinger in my title because it fits my avatar. ;) But thank you for your infinite kindness. You have made my day./

the only reason i knew that one
is because i have Stephen King's voice

on the audio tapes :P

ok
my turn. hrm

"When Blain the Mono blammed over head, running up the night
like a bullet running up the barrel of a gun, windows broke, dust sifted down,
and several of the skulls disintegrated like ancient pottery vases."

Talitha Unwin
10-28-2008, 08:45 AM
That`s from the waste lands I`d say. With Blaine being mentioned like that, it leaves just two options, right? ;)
I know it`s not nessecary in this game, but is it someone from River Crossing saying that? Not quite sure about that... :orely:

@Daghain: is that a Sylvia Pittston quote? *again:orely:*

:D

Letti
10-28-2008, 08:51 AM

"Had he not, he surely would have missed the circular flash from two o'clock as they landed on hard-packedm oil-darkened earth. Eddie would have died for sure. Maybe both of them would have died. In Roland's experience, only two things glared with that perfect brilliant circularity, eyeglasses and the long sight of a weapon."

Talitha Unwin
10-28-2008, 11:09 AM
OK now, this one has to be right: Song of Susannah!
Jack Andolini and the Balazar guys`re waiting for Roland and Eddie in that town which name right now won`t come to my mind, but anyway, it`s in that general store / gas station where they meet John Cullum.

Do I win the fair day goose? *looking hopefully*

alinda

OK, next one:

"Susannah remembered being with her father when she was little, crawling up into his lap and laying the smooth skin of her cheek against the rough weave of his sweater. She remembered how she would close her eyes and breathe deeply of the smell that was his smell and his alone: pipe tobacco and wintergreen and the Musterole he rubbed into his wrists, where the arthritis first began to bite him at the outrageous age of twenty-five. What these smells meant to her was that everything was all right."

Thankee Sai, Letti.

This is a line that i paticularly like :), i dont think its too difficult to guess to be honest:

Susannah was aware of being hauled up and whirled around. The world was a carousel blur: standing stones, gray sky, hailstone-litterd ground....
