To all those who gave their lives, to those who lost theirs and to the loved ones left behind, I remember you!

I couldn't agree more, Karen, and add my rememberance. 'Twas a sad, sad day. :(

i have to say one of the most touching, most poignant, most heartbreaking short stories sai king ever
wrote was the things they left behind. all those objects, just waiting. all those lives, just . . . .

that's another of those stories that's right up there with tim o'brien's what they carried that i just
sat in the bookstore and read, crying while i was reading it. and then bought it and took it home and
immediately read it again. and i reread it often.

it's the first story i ever read (fact or fiction) that focused on the objects. and what happened/happens
to them. and even though it's about things, it's so moving.

if you haven't read it, do.

and remember what we lost. not because of all the political hype, or because of all the "terror alert levels",
but because for a short time an entire country come together to say we won't stand for this and we will pull
together. and for a short time an entire city came together and said we will do whatever we have to do to save us.

With all respect to the victims, and the first responders who lost their lives.

Heroes never die.

9-11 is one of those situations where you will always remember exactly what you were doing when you first heard the news. It is something I'll never forget.

My prayers go out to those that perished and to those who lost someone.
